Acid Reflux. Best way forwards?

Postby Superflor » Tue Jun 23, 2015 7:46 pm

Had recurring phlegm which has been affecting my singing and saw a specialist this morning who diagnosed Rhinitis and acid reflux. He prescribed Flixonase steroid nasal spray and Omeprazole tablets- proton pump inhibitor. I am wary of taking anything and see the doctor tomorrow.

People I have been asking about it have said things elevate head when lying down, use bicarbonate of soda (just bought some and had half a teaspoon in water), see if it's not too little acid and try cider vinegar and someone mentioned MSM for the Rhinitis as it´s inflamation.

I know I eat too big portions, too late at night, into my spicy and garlic so gonna try and not eat after 6pm and eat more raw and smaller more frequent meals.

Any guidance or recipes would be gratefully received.

Sounds like you know what you need to do! Treating the symptoms works in the short term but you probably want to get rid of this for good, right?

I fixed my acid reflux by not eating after 7 PM, dropping acidic foods from my diet (read the original "Thrive" by Brendan Brazier for lots on acid/alkaline info), eating at least 5x a day, and reducing my stress levels through meditation and working out 2x a day.

Those are the things that worked for me. YMMV.

I was also diagnosis with reflux and notice eating less really helped me feeling better.
Making a diary of the ingredients that cause me discomfort is another way to prevent it. No acid foods for sure!
Step by step, I'll get there!
Thanks for your reply Osric :)
