By popular demand, a thread about what members of the forum eat!

It’s probably most useful for new members to get examples of a healthy and balanced diet – but if you’re surviving on protein shakes only and getting good training results,

I guess that’s interesting info too. :) I’m sure there’s a great diversity of food habits amongst vegan athletes.

Maybe avoid discussions and trash talk in this thread to make it easier for those who are looking for ideas of what to eat?

Today, not enough. But I have a here's one I made earlier from a few days ago I may as well post.

Breakfast: 3 Shredded wheat, berries, 30g mixed nuts, soy milk
Elevenses: 2 Linda McCartney sausages, homemade oat protein bar
Lunch: Lasagna (TVP, spinach, tomato, white pasta, soy milk based white sauce), broccilli
Dinner: 2 lentil & sietan burgers, corn on the cob
Desert (not right after): Chocolate
bedtime snack: 2 hummus sandwiches (brown bread), 2-3 bits of fruit

3000 calories, 150g protein

Breakfast - 2 weetabix, soy milk & soy Latte
Lunch - Wheatberries & Giant Couscous salad (marks & spencer)
Snack - Lentil & tomato salad (delphi)
Dinner - Avocado, strawberry & canneloni bean salad, Some mango & grapes

but I am skinnying .. so only about 1600 cals there.

Too low on protein yesterday, sigh. Gotta plan a bit better haha!

Good posts so far! Pictures are of course encouraged. :D


Here's what I accomplished today:

Breakfast: Muesli with extra pumpkin seeds and wheatgerm added, linseed oil, berries and oat milk. Brown toast with soy cheese, black tea.

Snack: Nectarine, a couple of Brazil nuts, cup of green tea.

Lunch: Thai take out, rice noodles with veggies and deep fried tofu. Chocolate and black tea for dessert.

Snack: Banana, cup of green tea.

Pre training snack: PB sandwich.

Post training: Soy protein shake, chocolate flavored.

Supper: Warm salad with mixed beans, corn, tomato and spices. A dollop of guacamole. Chocolate and white tea.

Late snack: A small portion of plain soygurt with pumpkin seeds.

Breakfast: weetabix, with soya milk and a sliced banana

Lunch: sandwiches/toast - some with hummus and cucumber, and some with peanut butter and marmalade. Plus an apple and a kiwi fruit.

Dinner: Butternut squash and lentil stew, with potatoes.

Breakfast: 4 weetbixs, soya milk and raisins

Lunch: 1 pbutter+ 1 vegemite sandwhich + 1 kiwifuit+ water

snack: 1 apple + ~50g dark almond choc

Dinner: 1 big plate of Nacho's with ~100g cornchips + guacamole

snack: 50g dark choc "peanut slab" bar
1 pbutter sandwhich + glass orange juice (I'm yet to have)

I work a manual job btw. Looking at that no wonder I'm on the skinny side :)

So what IS it with this weetabix? Here in the States, we don't have it LOL.

Yesterday:

Breakfast: Raw cacao energy ball (cacao, flaxseed, sesame, almond, hemp protein, dates), about the equivalent of a Luna Bar in size.
COFFEEEEEEEE

Snack: Banana spirulina pudding (1 frozen banana, 1 tbsp spirulina in processor)

Lunch: 1 cup black beans, 1/3 cup amaranth, half avocado, 1 slice kabocha squash, steamed veggies.

YERBA MATE.

Snack: dates. not sure how many. Raw veggies. A lot.

Dinner: Same as lunch. I know, not ideal but I had a lot of everything left over.

Snack: Apple/banana salad

They're "wheat biscuits". Called Weet-bix in NZ and Oz(1st to develop it), but for some reason the Brits put an "a" in the middle to make it sound weird :P . Basically 97% crushed whole wheat with a few added B vitamins and Iron .

Breakfast: 6 Weet-Bix, one massive banana, soy milk, glass of juice.
Morning tea: Protein shake, carrot cake, soy yoghurt
Lunch: 2 sandwiches with PB and dark chocolate spread
After work: Big smoothie with a couple of scoops of rice protein, frozen berries, a banana, peanut butter

Dinner will be some sort of high protein thing with heaps of veggies, then I'll have something else after that before bed.
