Yeah anyone experimenting with a diet wherein less than 30% of calories come from carbs isn't going to get too far. Does anyone actually advocate for this?

Devil's Plaything has done extremely well on a low carb vegan diet (and much lower than 30%) -

From what I could glean of that translation, it seems like he advocates for super-low carb intake while training for bodybuilding comps which 1. aim for lowest possible bodyfat and 2. is a periodic rather than long-lasting thing. I'm not super familiar with bodybuilding competitions, so perhaps I missed something.

I responded with the intake requirements of doing powerlifting and/or grappling, where below 30% is not-wise unless cutting weight; perhaps I should have clarified.

All in all, I suppose your carb levels depend on the activity your doing; levels required for a marathon runner in training, a powerlifter in a bulking phase, and a competing body builder will surely vary?

Yeah, you're not going to get far as a marathon runner trying to go low carb for sure. However, I think even though he's done with his competition, (and I might be putting words in his mouth) DP is maintaining a relatively low carb diet (somewhere around 30% if I'm not mistaken) and he believes this is the best diet for him for bodybuilding.

30% of calories isn't low carb at all. That's 400g of carbs if you're eating 4000kcals. 400g! Even if you were starving yourself on 2000kcals it's still nowhere near low.

Maybe he could do better on a higher carb diet :)

Try lifting up the percentage, start with increasing to 50%.
