Reasons for acid smelling sweat

Postby E-P » Sat Jun 26, 2010 7:43 pm

Hello everybody,

There has lately occurred odd phenomenon in my body. It took my first few weeks to realise that it was from my chest where the weird sweat smell rise (no other body parts) but still I couldn't quite name this odour. Now , today I just realised that it is like a smell of acid.

It is weird, it started about a month ago and I can't find any other reason for it than the magnesium and zinc supplements that I started taking lately. On the other hand, when I could name this odd smell I did quick googling and realised that it might have something to do with my diet, more about my protein in take. Anyway, that is unlikely as there has been no changes in my diet lately, or in my alcohol consumption/smoking or anything like that.

Otherwise wouldn't be a big deal but I live in tropical area and sweat quite a bit :D

Maybe I'll cut the supplements and see what happens but mean while can anybody give ideas what physical process causes this and what should I do (if the supplement cut doesn't change anything)?

Cheers

Edit: Other change there has actually occurred during the last few months is that I have increased steadily but significantly increased my running distances.

If by acid, you mean ammonia, then maybe this thread could be of interest:

They oftenget confused by the fact that they are almost half protein themselves.
