How can I get super fast and tough

Postby Herbsman » Tue May 08, 2012 10:02 pm

I wanna get massively fast. Like, so fast that people fear me, and young boys cry when I enter the room. Is this possible with increased training intensity and more sleep, or does genetics determine the limit of how fast I will be able to become?

Fast in a running Usain bolt way or fast in a Bruce Lee kind of way?

Realistically, you'll never be as fast as Wiggins, Cancellara or Phinney. They have freakish genetics, crazy mental attitude and the power of big pro teams behind them to maximise training, technology etc.

You need to find the training that works for you. Start training with a power meter, so you can really understand what your body is doing and how its responding to effort. High intensity intervals, combined with 2 and 3x20 minutes FTP intervals. An enormous base of endurance training. And yes, a lot of sleep.

Really, you need to get a coach. It makes a difference. Guess work is no good.

When I think back to the real freaks I have met, over the years, its heart breaking. They make it look so easy. Hutch, the current British 10 mile champion, rode his first ever ten mile TT is around 21 minutes. Thats faster than most people ever go. And that as his first effort.

You can still be incredibly fast, with your genetics. Anyway, who is to say you aren't a freak too ?
I eat to nourish my compassion, not my greed

I'm the man they couldn't kill ! I cannot be destroyed with conventional weapons !

And probably the former fastest British Vegan 10, 25 and 50 mile TT rider. Probably.
