Postby JohnBarleycorn » Sat Aug 28, 2010 8:13 pm

There are so many of them.......

One that i like.....

Shut up legs ! Jens Voigt
I eat to nourish my compassion, not my greed

I'm the man they couldn't kill ! I cannot be destroyed with conventional weapons !

And probably the former fastest British Vegan 10, 25 and 50 mile TT rider. Probably.

One of my favourites (or at least the first one I can think of right now):
[quote]I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five.
Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a dérailleur?
We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!

From Henri Desgrange, first organiser of the Tour de France.

i like the hinault one - 'as long as i breathe, i attack' (or however it translates)

not really a quote, but i was reminded of this passage from 'the rider' in another thread:
...people have become woolly mice. They
still have bodies that can walk for five days and four nights through a
desert of snow, without food, but they accept praise for having taken a
one-hour bicycle ride. 'Good for you.'

robert millar was/is very quoteable, i'll have to dig out his bio and find some gems...
"No se deja de pedalear cuando se envejece.
Se envejece cuando se deja de pedalear"
