A sportif in memory of Aardvarkboy 19th July

If you are up for a summer challenge......

Reading CC are organising a sportif in memory of Anthony.

This year it will be on 19th July. Start and finish will be in Thatcham Berkshire. Food will be vegan/veg, also in honour of Anthony.

It's still in the planning stage but will be in the sportif calendar soon.

I am planning to get fit enough to ride it. Right now I'd have trouble getting to the paper shop

I'm not really sure what a sportif is?

Is it just cycling?

I'd like to offer support but a leisurely 25 miler would be about it for me these days I'm afraid.

i have no idea what i'll be doing at that point next year but with any luck will be abroad... so would definitely be interested

I'd be very interested in this. I'm planning to do my first Cyclosportif next year and actually being able to partake at the food stops would be a welcome bonus.

It's all under way, I am honoured that not only are my friends (the majority by no means vegan at all) in Reading CC doing this but they are also doing it in the Anthony spirit, respecting vegan ethics.

Hope this is enough info but please message me anytime. I am not part of the team organising it but I am in regular touch with them.

I am also gearing up at last to ride it. My first club, and proper ride (only been out about 4 times for one hour) should be next Sunday, if I can find guys slow enough for me Been 6 months virtually off the bike, but it's the new year soon, so, I'll be out there very soon.

Do you think that any non-cycling vegans might be interested in this?

If so maybe I could post this on other boards as well. What do you think?

It's not as hard as many gritty really hilly ones. More of a rolling course.
