A 62kg climber beating all the strongman timetrialling specialists? Doesn't that kind of defy physics? What kind of power output does that guy have!! Not only does he have the best power to weight, but also the best power to drag?!hmmmm....
Can't believe he beat Cancellara even if by just 3s. Cancellara reckoned the camera motorbikes were too close, and could have given Contador a slight advantage

Remember this was stage 18 of TdF, not a single race TT. Having raced 17 stages before takes its toll on everyone, and Cancellara has been struggling quite hard and is probably not in his olympic shape.

There was an article on the BBC before the TT pointing out that although everyone was talking about Contador losing time he was a fairly accomplished TTer (Champion of Spain?). The author expected him to have a strong performance.
So not a total surprise I think.
