Future plans ... multi-day ride

Postby StevieP » Mon Oct 06, 2008 1:25 pm

A few of us chatted on Sunday night about the immense fun we could have with a multi-day ride mountain bike ride. We played with the idea of going across Wales or perhaps the 350 pennine bridle way (or part of) etc.

We can go completely off our own backs and organise everything, or use a luggage service like: http://www.sherpavan.com/baggage/bagsrc.asp and book our own accommodation, or use a holiday company such as http://biking.skedaddle.co.uk/.

So, just playing around with ideas. How many of use would be up to such a journey next year?

As I was one of those in on the original conversation I had better register my interest here.
I'm thinking about having a go at ultra-light camping on a mountain bike sometime, but I think for this type of event, travelling light and having all the kit carried on ahead would be a better option.
The people in that first link are charging around £7 per bag per day with a limited selection of routes and stopping at regular accomodation.
Just an idea, but if we could find a few vegan B&Bs within cycling distance of eachother to make up a good route, and if someone wanted to do the driving, they could get a free driving & walking holiday out of this if all the cyclists paid the same as they would with a proper business.

I've done no research on this yet. Do vegan B&Bs even exist ?
Route ?
Distance each day ?
Midweek, all week or weekend ?

This sounds fairly similar to what Lupine Adventures do. I'll PM Dublin Dave.
Worcestershire's fastest veteran vegan mountain bike endurance racer with a beard.
Worcestershire's fastest veteran vegan mountain bike tandem orienteering team Captain.

I'd be interested. A long weekend would probably be enough for me, and the less stuff I have to carry the better :)
