Less than 2 hours?! Why even put on chamois shorts! You can do that in those jeans! :P
haha - practice lots of sprinting, and don't ever do rides over 2hrs. =)

Haha, true!
Are you sure this is a fate you want? Do they make jeans "with give" for men? Ask veganjosh about the headache it is to find pants when each thigh is as big as your waist.

i gave up on body building a long time ago. i dont want legs that big. i wear "tight" (or fitted, depending on how you look at it) jeans as it is, so my original comment was just to say that i would be pumped that my legs grew enough that i would need to get bigger pants.

and yes they make jeans with lyrca in them, a good 1 or 2% lyrca denim has a nice give to it.

Added a goal to my list - forgot to mention that i also hope to hit 1,500 watts on my powermeter (1 second effort). Currently just a snitch over 1,200...

cycling goals for 2008

Postby jgt » Sat Feb 16, 2008 2:47 pm

Hi,

I'm new here on this forum. I'm an enthusiastic rower and cyclist (both utility and racing) for many years, and vegan for a few years. Nice to find out that there are others who know that, contrary to popular belief, plants are excellent fuel for bike rides. (The story goes that Joop Zoetemelk had each morning a steak for breakfast during the tour de france.) I'd be really happy to meet other vegans on races. These events are on my agenda for this year:

cycle vision - http://www.cyclevision.nl/
world championships - http://www.wc2008.org.uk/
nk trials (dutch championships unassociated riders, I hope also open to foreign riders since it's a lovely event) - http://www.wvtexel.nl/
european championships rowing bike - http://www.rowingbike.com

I put them here as an invitation to you all. Except at the rowing bike championships, the bike design is immaterial. So you can take part on anything you've got.

Joeri.

hi jgt, welcome to the forum!

recumbent biker huh? they're the raw fooders of the cycling world ;)

always wanted to try one of those, but never got around to it yet.

too bad you missed us last summer, the Vegan Fitness Week was hosted by runner here on the forum in Amsterdam.

Fun topic!

My goals are:
Be able to keep a 20mph average on laps of Prospect Park (I can do 16mph now)
Log at least 2000 miles
Be able to climb Hunters Crossing (a hill that is hard for me) without going into my granny gear and feeling nauseous.

If I can accomplish those things in my second season of cycling, I will be very proud! I got my first road bike last summer for my 34th birthday. I never exercised in my life before that.

Twenty years ago, my goals were to win a classic ! Paris-Roubaix or the Tour of Flanders would have been fine ! And to learn to sprint !

Ten years ago, my goals were to stay under 100kgs ! And to try to go for a brisk walk at least once a week ! Fat layabout !

Times change !

My goals for this year;

Top ten in a National championship,

Ten mile Time Trial in 19.50 or faster,

Twenty-five mile Time Trial in 53.00 or faster

Win a dozen races.

World Masters Pursuit (Thanks to Dave Noisy)

Still trying to lose some weight !
I eat to nourish my compassion, not my greed

I'm the man they couldn't kill ! I cannot be destroyed with conventional weapons !

And probably the former fastest British Vegan 10, 25 and 50 mile TT rider. Probably.
