Pat Reeves retains her championship, despite kidney failure

Postby Mary » Thu Apr 08, 2004 10:20 pm

I just got this email off Pat Reeves, and thought you would all want to hear the excellent and inspiring news of just what can be achieved on a vegan diet. It is almost incredible what she achieves, when you consider that she has suffered from cancer for so many years. Knowing what Neil goes through with kidney failure I can tell you, the fact that she won the title again is little short of miraculous.

Hi Everyone!
The last seven days or so have been somewhat of a rollercoaster for me.
Ahead of this, three emergency hospital admissions for renal failure pushed
U.K. surgeons to re-consider either amputating left arm (bacteria producing
tumours) and/or kidney removal. However, decision now is that they will NOT
sanction either surgeries (basically too risky) and thus I am given
'freedom' to apply radical unorthodox therapies. With nil function in left
kidney and right kidney showing signs of deterioration - I am desperate to
preserve it. Finally, the cancer has now made inroads into compromising any
organ. With little time left, a few weeks ago I sought any morsel of
potentially efficacious therapy via my world-wide contacts.. Three
possibilities that were feasible, affordable and practicable were
highlighted. I immediately began one of these under the direction of an
eminent German doctor - namely perinodular injections into left groin lymph
node of trimethylaminohydroxbicycloheptane. This is an on-going treatment of
which I was educated in this technique during the early part of last week in
Hanover. Whilst there, I met with people who suggested liver-implant last
year and, yesterday, obtained agreement to repeat this implant, now into
closest proximity to both active left shoulder/arm tumours, which are the
seat of current problem. There are some significant heart-related risks
with its use - and which I succumbed to last year - though its life-saving
potential should, hopefully, outweigh. I will return to Germany for this
implant on Sunday 18th April.
Between returning from Hanover late last Thursday and the cancer retreat
yesterday - where I managed a good two day rest, I pulled off retaining my
long-held British Masters' 2004 powerlifting title - with just one day's
(Friday) training! This was an empowering day for me and a truly remarkable
one. Never underestimate your true capabilities!
I have no direct evidence that this treatment will prove its worth - I
can only pray, hope and trust.
Love, light and Peace..........................Pat.

Pat is simply amazing!!
At this or that twist of it I feel my slippery self eluding me, gliding into deeper and darker waters than I care to probe.

A point of note about Pats win. She's only managed a few training sessions this year, & has had operations. With all this she still managed to improve her total by 2.5Kg over last year. That's true vegan power :!:
