Finally biting the bullet and opening my own studio! It is going to be a bit of a financial stretch for me, but I think it will be well worth it! (The people who run the place I currently rent space from have created a toxic environment for my clients and I... time to get out!!) Evil Munky is going to be making the World's Most Epic Squat Cage for it, and I have many plans for my little space. :)

So... any advice from those of you who own your own studios is welcomed. :)

fantastic news :D

i am hoping to open mine soon too!

What kind of place will it be? Personal training studio? I know fair few people with personal training studios, and they are quite different from each other based on the type of clients they focus on - from hardcore to tidy clean and posh :)

Thanks, all! It's about 745 sq ft. I'm going to bring in maybe one or two other trainers who I really like and trust (a pretty tall order around these parts) as independent contractors (I do not want to deal with the headache of having employees at this point). I'd like to make it nice-looking, but "posh" is not what I am going for at all. I am going to have two Epic Squat Racks (monkey bars attached!), chains, ropes, barbells, tons of Olympic plates, dumbbells, logs, tractor tire, sledge, maces, some TRX-type straps, etc. I'm going to have a few classes-- I have a woman who teaches Yoga and a guy who teaches self-defense/knife fighting/etc, plus I'm going to teach a kettlebell workshop at least once a month, maybe more. I'm excited!!!

A friend of mine would be totally into the self-defense aspect. Sounds like a lot of fun toys :D

I started training there on Sunday as soon as I got back from vacation; I've pretty much been going nonstop since then, trying to set it all up and work at the same time. I've been taking pix as it progresses, but I've got no idea how to post them here... I have them up all over my FB page...
