Defining features of the Amen Diet are the following:

· Calorically restricted, with a mean caloric content of 1250 [range 1000-1500 kilocalories]

· Thoroughly vegetal, devoid of meat

· Low in glycotoxins (i.e. advanced glycation end-products)

· Antioxidant rich, adequate in essential micronutrients (i.e. minerals and vitamins)

· Inclusive of select nutraceutical agents known to exert inhibitory effects on the aging process and/or age-related diseases

1250 kilocalories would be awesome for bulking, 1250 kilocalories = 1 250 000 calories, but I guess that maybe they used the term kilocalorie incorrectly.

I think the diet encourages high levels of modesty ;)

· Author of Mind, Matter, Mathematics, & Mortality, the most momentous contribution to metaphysics ever written.

· Author of the monograph The Nutritional Neurotrophic Neoteny Theory, the soundest scientific theory of human brain evolution ever advanced.

You could in fact say the whole thing is a momentous facepalm.

The word kilocalorie is the correct term for what is usually called a calorie.

A calorie is actually measure a unit of energy that is 1/1000 of what is generally termed a calorie.

So when talking a bout food a date, for example, is usual said to have about 60 calories. It actually has 60,000 calories or 60 kilocalories.

For reasons that are not clear to me (but are almost certainly something to do with RawFoodists or VBB) the word calorie entered popular parlence in place of the word kilocalorie.

I hope that is slightly clearer than mud. :D

:) hehe of course kilo in front of anything is it in thousand, but they are right, we just use calories in spoken language to mean the unit which is kilocalories in correct term.

But that is a sidenote to this dude :D

I dont understand. How is this guy so bloody strong if he only eats 1250 calories of food a day.

Is he not telling us about the special pills/injections/liquid calories???

How does his body get what it needs to recover and grow...

1 bag of raisins is 250 calories over his limit.....

I have an exercise for you, grab a food package of your choice and look at the energy content. Please sit down when you do this, because I suspect you're going to fall over from the shock of just how many calories you consume a day.

Standard convention has it that the word Calorie replaces kilocalorie for every day conversation,, with the capital letter representing the fact that it's not SI calories. The capital letter gets dropped by packaging designers who know more about school level English than school level science. As if books could ever be as interesting as blowing stuff up, do you see what the world has come to!
