to celebrate this i decided to "do a spug" and not squat today.

squat session today with new spanking knee wraps from buzzs joint www.strengthshop.co.uk

tentatively started light, then nailed 205 as the days goal weight, but it was comfy so nailed 210 too. It was even better.

However, the road of "better equipment" has now been finished, i guess i have to actually get stronger to get any higher numbers.

Which way did you wrap the knee? Read an article saying you should wrap from inside to out to avoid "improper patellar tracking". Could be a cause of knee pain?

Seems to be a lot of mixed opinions about which direction to wrap.

You could wrap them so that the knot finishes on top of the knee, that way it makes you look like you're squatting marginally deeper than you really are.

Ps; These are the bad boys you want if you're using wraps. I think VFs very own strength pimp Buzz should sponsor the guys in the 500lbs race ;)

that is what spug will be doing.

i am using the strength shops own brand badboys mate - BUMBLEBEE colour scheme!

knee is still sore from the wrapping though - this could give spug an opportunity to make progress in the race.

I sponsored JP with some Strength Shop knee wraps which had been soaked in estrogen so it slowly seeps into the skin/body when he uses them! Thor ones are better than the Strangulators though, more support/spring.

In Scotland 'sponsored' means 'sold'...

Squat Friday has come and gone.

Warmups felt heavy, especially 160kg. That set was so bad I decided to take it again, then double 180, single at 190. Then bust out a 205kg triple. Last rep was tough, lost the bar a wee bit and came up skew whiff. Dropped back to 180kg again, was half thinking about 10 reps, but had to abort at 5 as my wrists were complaining (the shame).

Wrist sore just now actually, but overall I'm happy in the knowledge that JP will be unable to sleep tonight due to the fear of defeat.

triple with 205 does put you ahead of the race, especially if the race was about a max triple.

i will sleep well in the knowledge that its not.

commentators split ini their opinions is the absence of back squatting in JPs training due to him giving spug some time to catch up, or because his knees are still sore from the knee wrapping incident last monday.

Either way, its quiet before the storm...
