Competitions coming up

Postby buzz » Mon Mar 30, 2009 12:58 pm

Yo VF scum, who's got comps coming up, and what are they? German posse? Ralst mofo? JP homie? Aussie crew? Others? List them up, take a pull on the pipe, and do some trash talking!

Me, Plan is to nail a few, but first one is Unit20 comp this weekend;

1. overhead medley - 65kg keg, 40kg DB each arm, 80kg log, 90kg axle

2. yoke//tyre/farmers medley - 20m each (yoke and farmers) - 220/280x3/100

3. arm over arm -15m- 350kg

4. car deadlift hold - approx 250kg in hands

5. squat - 140 for reps

6. stones - 80, 85, 100, 117, 130 to 51" platform

Aim - overhead, get them all nailed. Fair percentage will nail up to and including the log. We're not timing individual lifts, so only way to place ok is to take a breather and get the axle nailed.
Medley - Finish it, maybe :) All are fine on their own, but together will be puffing like a banjo.
Arm over arm - finish it. 60 second limit, and friction means it's impossible to get any slide with it as it's a chain and 50kg plate.
Hold - 30 seconds
Squat - 4 reps
Stones - fast with first 4, a breather, and then have a bash at the 130.

Let's see. Should have pics/vids to post up after it.

Nice looking minicomp man! All the best with it.

I trust you will get more than 4 reps from the squat though...

you have some other comps planned as well for the summer, no? Severn valley etc?

My comp is simply this one, last day of July:

QUALIFIERS, Friday 31st of July:

Medley: sack loading x 2 + 120kg farmers for 20m + tyre flip x 2. Head to head.

Log medley 100, 110, 120 , 130 , 140

Farmers 120kg for 60 m. head to head

Truck pull with harness 20-25 m

Car deadlift for max

FINALS, saturday 1st of August

Arm over arm pull of a tyre 20-25 m

Yoke 330kg / 25m

Car deadlift hold

Conans wheel

Stones 100, 120, 140, 160, 180, + 200kg extra stone!!!

no chance of qualifying to the finals (which are on the next day), but planning to just treat the qualifiers as a comp of their own.

I've got a strongman comp coming up April 18th. Events are these:

1. Yoke and farmers medley 600Lb Yoke 250 farmers. 50ft each
2. Log for reps clean every rep. 230 log
3. Car Deadlift
4. Seated Arm over Arm Pull
5. Stones for reps. 300lbs

Not sure about the rest of the year after that, I'd like to hit another strongman comp and another PL meet, but I haven't seen any that look likely yet

i'm lifting in the australian intervarsity championships this saturday being hosted by my club - www.powerlifting.net.au

aiming for (all raw):

squat 180
bench 155
dl 220 maybe 230

seems i'm coming down with the flu though, so hopefully it doesn't throw these plans too awry.

It's not strictly "coming up" but I do intend to prepare for and enter the annual powerlifting meet at Lancaster Uni in November.

I'd like to aim for 145 / 110 / 180 ish.

Not bothered what weight category I lift in.

Can't see ever getting strong enough for the current crop of novis SM comps.

JP - why not compete? Because the bench might re-injure your shoulder?

Baldy - Good call. Dublin Dave actually lives in Lancaster so we should be able to get him to.

GBW - where are you? :)

Excellent move. Lying down = THREE RED LIGHTS.
