In the meantime, the women's strength table is about as active as... well, name your favourite nearly extinct volcano.

Skinny newbies like myself ought really not be able to make it into the top 10! :?

While I agree that it would be lovely to have many more women hitting PBs on the strength table, the stats don't agree with you.

In 2005, the first year where we have data, the numbers were:

Average Total: 189.66kg
Average BW : 64.79kg

Today the stats are:

Average Total: 262.29kg
Average BW : 65.25kg

I make that a 38% increase in total, compared to the guys managing about 24% in the same time.

But yeah would be good to see more women lifting. How long before you break into the top five?

Still, how much of that improvement has happened during the last year? I haven't seen a lot of updates.

From the look of it, there's about 15 female members who have actually tried a 1RM on all three lifts. That's a bit meagre, I think...

Never, probably! At least not if fireant decides to start squatting. Thanks for suggesting it as a possibility, though!

linnea, that makes your great progress even more important :D

...have to just play with the cards we are dealt with, would be awesome if there were more women lifters increasing their pbs...

but at the moment there seems to be quite a few active journals going by women lifters, so thats encouraging. I can see all of you fighting top 5ish pretty soon if you all keep at it!

If we do, it will be not least because of the encouragement and advice from nice VF:ers like yourself! :D

It would be nice if there were more female lifters, but your lifting stats are pretty good, they would be in the intermediate/advanced category on that exrx strength standards chart, i think (my maths is a bit dodgy so i could be wrong here). A couple of the ladies in the top five have competed in powerlifting and i think catching them up (on the table anyway where their stats are probably out of date ha ha) is certainly not unattainable for any of us.
