Sadly I won't be able to make it this year as we have absolutely no money spare at the moment.

Sounds like it will be good fun though!

Poll seems to indicate little preference (with apologies to the solitary voter)

Krypto - I say pick the date which suits you best :)

I'll start sounding artists out about t-shirt design - keywords: vegan, disco, superhero

Damn, that is sad to hear :(

[quote="AbFab"]You have vegan nougat? Yum!!!

Simone tells me to make clear that all nougat belongs to her and her alone and she won't share. Not a crumb.

Sorry.

[quote="spug_myers"]In a break from Strength Gathering T-shirt tradition I think we should do sizes other than XXL though :?

Why does it not surprise me that you ask that? :P
It's a good idea though :?
We need girlie shirts and tight longsleeves :P (no, that was a joke!)

Sounds great :)
It should have "Vegan Strength Gathering Germany 2008" on it and the design might involve a Superman-symbol-like V-symbol, or maybe the superman symbol with the word "vegan" integrated in the frame of the S. Or whatever, i'm no designer :P

I'll email possible sponsors this weekend. Maybe their ads need to go onto the shirts as well.

The date will be decided in due time by the planning committee.

Done.
The official date is the 21st - 23rd of november.
That will include training and party on saturday and strongman comp on sunday.
Of course, i hope people will stay longer than that. I will probably take my days off from wednesday 19th to tuesday 25th so i can prepare the comp and we can have some day trips as well.

I emailed 4 possible sponsors this morning.

Spug, when your designers come up with a logo, could they make sure it's suitable not only for a T-Shirt but for a poster as well?
I want to print a few posters and flyers to advertise the event. This needs to happen soon, though. September 6th is the Veggie Street Day, which will be the perfect time&place to advertise :D

Ideas for the Strongman Comp events on sunday.
Tell me what you think!

- Two classes: Superheroes and Sidekicks
Okay, let's just call them Beginners and Heavyweights ;)

Superhero class events:
- Medley: 120kg Farmer's Walk 15m plus 3 tyre flips. 90sec time limit.
- Log for max weight.
- Yoke around 280kg for 25m.
- Atlas Stones 80-150kg.
- Husafeld stone approx. 100kg max. distance (turns every 15m).
- Barrell loading race, 3 barrels 90, 110, 120kg for ~10m and load onto ~120cm platform.

Sidekick class events:
- 60kg Farmer's Walk for max distance (turns every 15m).
- Small Tyre flip max reps in 2min.
- Husafeld stone approx. 55kg for max. distance (turns every 15m).
- 35kg log for reps, floor to overhead, time limit 2min.

The sidekick events should be doable by a wide range of people, they focus on endurance rather than max strength. To perform well you need to be quite fit, but even if you're not, you can still move the weights.

Athletes who fit in neither class can still play with the equipment on the other days.

Too many fitness events - is this a fitness gathering, or a strength gathering?? :P Log press for max is a good one tho :) No deadlift type event, or grip stuff??

As if you could finish any of the events :P

But, hm, you're right :?
Though Strongman Sport in general usually involves events which are either going for max speed or time ;) And the medley is quite heavy. And the Yoke not that light either.

We could have the Farmer's for max. distance, but that would be quite brutal. And i want to include the Tyre Flip if possible. It's such a nice tyre

Probably the new Farmer's Walk weights will be finished by november, but for now they only go up to 120kg, so not heavy enough for deadlift. I don't have an olympic bar, but i plan on getting a thickbar. On the other hand, the idea was to have a comp and play with the toys, not do gym lifts :P

There is the 180kg block for Bavarian deadlift, though. It holds additional plates, but i'd need to build a lifting platform... maybe that's a good idea :D
Or just use the block in the loading race

Keep the suggestions coming!

I am confident of finishing the log press - that's it tho :)

Yeah, I think yoke and medley are spot on (as long as farmers are high pick up! :))

Bavarian deadlift sounds like a winner, get it done! :) I was thinking more of farmers hold for the grip - anything involving walking is tough!! :D (you know, the sore knee and everything...)
www.strengthshop.co.uk - wrist wraps, knee sleeves, captains of crush grippers, and more.

OK, Bavarian Deadlift is in!

[quote="Devil's Plaything"]Oh man... I'm so gonna come in last... :(

Yes, that's because i designed the events especially for that purpose.
Not because i'm mean, but because you need that lesson to start training hard ;)

[quote="Devil's Plaything"]Can I get one of those Girlie-Shirts? ^^

That goes without saying.
You know that i know that they will really emphasise your 'ceps 8)

I got reply from two of the four possible sponsors, one is in and one is out. We will have protein snacks as prize "money" :D

Spug, what news from your designer "friends"? I think i'll ask someone i know, too, just to make sure nothing goes awry...

Very funny... weren't you the guy who told me, to do less rp-sets, i.e. to train less hard? ^^ :P

Ceps gotta be emphasised of course ;) 8)

I have put this in my diary and wish list. My travel budget has been a little knocked recently so I will need to give it a few months before I can confirm if I can come.

Not to fear though if I cant make it I will give some decent trash talking and a brilliant excuse (I can feel the blisters on my feet already forming).
