Dragon Flags

Postby Myrddin » Wed Jul 14, 2004 1:53 am

I've been doing lots of core work to help heal my back and I've heard Dragon Flags are an excellent core exercise (apparently it was Bruce Lee's favorite exercise) but I can find any links showing how to do them. Anyone found any links for this exercise?

Hi myrddin!

I first looked up www.dragondoor.com but only found them mentioned rather than described. I'm sure they must have it somewhere.

But here is some links that describe it. I've never done it because i'm just not supple enought

Dragon flags are given in the dragondoor by "Bulletproof Abs," if you want a full description.

Having read the book and done the exercise, here's my description.

Lay flat on your back on a bench and anchor your hands underneath the bench by your head. Hold on hard or you won't be able to do them. Now, concentrate on pulling your fee up toward the ceiling while keeping your whole body rigid - the only part of you that can stay on the bench is the are from your head to the top of your traps. I'd recommend starting from the top - with your body aiming toward the ceiling - and doing negatives for a while. This is an extremely difficult exercise!

Also, there is a sample clip of Pavel (author of Bulletproof Abs) doing a few exercises, including the Dragon Flag, at:

If you have questions, just ask.

Thanks for the links and the video guys. The video will be helpful but jeez do I hate Pavel's backward ideology!

Stallone does these in Rocky IV and beats Drago. Maybe this guy trained Drago....
