 Took me a few seconds to realise what I was watching. I'm not sure if that's tough as hell or just gross

Surely anyone who deadlifts and doesn't puke isn't really trying and is considered a wimp. Unless they're bleeding.

Am I the only one that thinks this is awesome?
I've seen so many responses and comments to this video about it being "unhealthy" and a bad idea, and that he's just some bro or roid head idiot.

This is reps on a lift that begins at 300kg, with added weight each rep, in a competition. This guy is showing unshakeable determination and continuing despite his gut going mental. It's a heroic effort.

Strength sports are unhealthy by their very nature, infact most sports are when you get to the higher end of performance.

That's pretty crazy. They also seem to have put sawdust infront of the lifting platform against the possibility of this occurring. A well run comp then.

hey thats John :D

haha!

I beat him in a close battle to the finish in my ONLY strongman victory two years ago, he is an awesome athlete!

And this is not the first time he has done it, maybe thats why they had something on the floor before him, and i bet the ref (sounds like my former trainig partner from Dungeon crew JC) stayed well clear :D

Awesome video!

Do these guys change weight category during the lift? If seems to me this could be an advantageous technique as they could request to be reclassified in a lower weight cat after the lift.
