3 months!!!

It has been 3 months since I have given up all the 'bad' stuff! It is hard but is getting easier. Anyone have any suggestions on what you do when the 'cravings' hit you?

Thanks in advance for the help!

www.vegweb.com
Prepare something new with a variety of veggies (salad or stir fry), fruit salad w/ a variety of fruits or a smoothie (fruit, nuts, seeds, soy milk, wheat germ, tofu.) Treat yourself and go out and buy some vegan hot dogs, hamburgers, sausages, seitan, tempeh. Eat out at a vegan restaurant. Buy the book Simply Vegan or the Vegan Handbook. www.vrg.org lots of recipes.

I hope this helps.

I'm going to guess that you're talking about the non vegan stuff. When I'm trying to not eat chocolate I distract myself. Brush teeth, walk the dog, phone a friend, read a book. Anything like that. Paint your nails. Or eat waaaaaay too many rice cakes :D

Maybe make a list of everything that works and then work your way through it to avoid the craving. I have no willpower so I feel your pain!

Welcome!

What is it you crave? For me, the smells of certain foods really tempt me, but I can make it pass by recreating the object, for example barbecue, in a vegan way. Maybe that will help you. Ciao :) .

I developed a trick for when I had to walk past a burger joint on my way home from work every day. The smell of onion rings was so great. (Maybe they are Vegan, but they are not healthy. :) )

I took a deep breath, smelled it, and let myself experience the pleasure of having just smelled it. Trick your brain into thinking it got what it wanted. That also worked for me when I was invited to my first BBQ since I became Vegan. "Excuse me, can I smell your steak?"

Go to whole foods and get their Endangered species dark chocolate. I'm pretty sure it has no dairy products and it's ethically traded. If anyone can contradict this, please let me know cos I love the stuff. Ciao :)

That, of course, is only true for some of their bars. I think most of the dark chocolates are safe. They also have a Vegan Collection gift box on their website. I really love dark chocolate, the darker, the better, so I have no trouble finding good, vegan chocolate.

Can you get hold of Green & Black's chocolate? They are delicious! Especially the Maya Gold one. :P
