Hello all
First post but been reading for ages on these forums.

I have only started my vegetarian (so far) diet a few days ago, and am happy with the choice I have made and hope to stick with it. Before I made this decision, however, I began to become quite involved into gaining mass and muscle on my non-veg diet. Now that i've changed my diet considerably, I have been basically non stop researching into how to keep it going with my new diet, and to be honest it seems as if the cons outweigh the pro's in terms of testosterone and protein/calories.

All I'm really asking for is some persuasion and some basic tips on maintaining/raising testosterone levels and high calorie intake.

Thanks, loving the forums :)

welcome to the forums mate!

Good call for going veggie, brave move and always great to hear another one dumping meat.

Any guestions you have, dont hesitate to ask. Thats why this forum is here for.

Of course all advice here will be vegan based but usually pretty good quality and no nonsense.

Thanks man, loving how nice the people on here can be.

I just hope I can keep getting my strength and weight up with this diet and begin Krav Maga when i'm at a reasonable strength level.

I guess people like you are living proof that it's possible, though

Hey 'These Walls' - I've been vegetarian since I was 13 (that's 21 years now - I know I'm getting on) and I teach Tactical Krav Maga and do weights training 4 times a week and have a 5 month old son and work full time!

You can do it! No sweat

Hey, welcome!

I read this recently and since you said something about testosterone, i thought id weigh in. It seems like the increase (exercise induced) in the hormone doesn't aid in muscle building after workouts. But read here: http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2012-06/mu-rdb061412.php i dont want to mis-represent it.

The soy lowering testosterone thing.. i dont really buy, but thats your choice after reading the research. Jack norris had a good article about it, here: http://jacknorrisrd.com/?cat=17. Its my understanding that gaining strength and muscle mass is all about eating, resting, and training smart, and time too.

Good luck with the transition!

I'm guessing the OP either decided not to stick around or went back to his old habits...
