Before you went vegan were you veggie or omnivore?
What you ate beofer is probably quite easy to veganise, tell us and we'll see what we can do.

pasta and oats themselves aren't high in fat. it's what you put on them. they have starches/sugars/carbs etc. but these things are nec. for energy. problem is, they are burned pretty fast--prob why you're never full. you should be adding good fats to these things, protein and fiber to stay full. eating more varied complex carbs that don't burn up so fast.

do what spike asked and we'll go from there.

yes FAT is the key to satiety, every meal needs a bit of fat in it.
Eg eat fruit with peanut butter or nuts or chocolate.
Always put some kind of fat on bread, eg margarine, peanut butter
Put a sauce or dressing that has oil in it, on pasta
Put margarine on sweet potatoes or potatoes
If you are eating muesli put dessicated coconut or nuts in it.

Do not overeat fruit as this can make you feel starving more than anything in my experience. I limit fruit to 1-2 pieces per day as fruit makes me ravenous if I overdo it.

I'm new to this too. I found picking up a couple of Vegan cookbooks to be quite helpful.

Changing your diet, especially if it's a dramatic change, can be intimidating and frustrating at first. The Vegan diet all the more so, I think, because there is food non-Vegans don't recognize at all (you should see me paging through some of my new recipes, "What the hell is that?!"). Suddenly, eating lunch has become effort...grrr.

So see if your library carries some Vegan cookbooks. That might help you navigate the grocery store, push you to try ingredients you would normally pass up, and assist you in getting the nutrition you might temporarily be lacking.

Edited to add: Do we have a cookbook thread/sticky? Does that interest anyone? (Or am I the only one who suffers from a cookbook addiction?)
