im raw, so what do i eat in a day?

Postby ha » Wed May 16, 2007 6:17 pm

doing the math today ive worked out my biggest days caloric expenditure is around 23 hours x 500 calories (polar hrm measured). thats in a 24 hour solo mountain bike race. i average 23 hours on the bike time. so thats around 11500 calories plus bmr of around 2500 for a male of my height, fitness and weight. so thats 14000 calories in a day!!! and 100% raw vegan! how do i do it?

well im doing training rides up to 321miles solo and work heavy labour jobs sometimes..i find staples like bananas, dates, mangoes, grapes, durian, persimmon, oranges etc give me the bulk calories i need. bananas are the 'rice' on the raw vegan program. i do up to 60 in a day before a 24 hour xc race. and i race to podium too! i aint pack filler, im pack killer! lol!

today i did around 80 pounds of fruit. total weight including skins..thats a lot of compost that i put back into nature! i never put skins in the bins..back to the bushes or gardens out of sight,,out of mind..

a typical day would be like this. 2 hour ride. 20 bananas blended with water. same for lunch or whatever fruit i can get. dinner is more fruit then followed by a monster salad with as much vege variety as possible. sometimes i make a nut pate during nuts season..but aim to keep fat intake around 10% of total calories for the year..
raw vegan banana case that has cycled over 190 000km cycled as a vegan.

My problem is I like the variety of foods available on a vegan diet, the idea of eating a banana trees worth of fruit with water makes me queezy...

It obviously works for you as you do seem ultra fit...
