Honey isn't vegan in that veganism is compassion for all life (even bees).

I went grocery shopping yesterday and got a gnarly amount of rice, cous cous, quinoa, beans, and veggies. I'm stoked, I haven't been this well prepared in some time.

I know the feeling. My pantry and frig are fully stocked - I want to start making new dishes but need to pace myself.

What foods are always in your shopping cart/ fridge/ pantry?

Postby Raynak » Mon May 14, 2012 11:05 am

What foods do you eat every day/week, and are always in your shopping cart/fridge/pantry?
Just ‘cause I’m curious to see what you all eat  and also for some inspiration on products I might not have thought about, since I’ve only recently became vegan. This is my list (I’ve added some products to categories which I know are not botanically correct, but who cares :) ):

Shit load of veggies: favorites are broccoli, kale, spinach, endive/escarole, haricot verts, bamboo, bell peppers (all colors), celery, zucchini/courgette, eggplant/aubergine, tomatoes.

Shitload of fruits: favorites are bananas, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, avocado, oranges, pears, apples, grapes, kiwi fruit, lemons.

Mushrooms: champignon/common mushroom, chestnut mushroom, shiitake mushroom, Portobello mushroom.

Nuts: walnuts, almonds, pecans, cashews, macadamia’s, hazelnuts, brazil nuts, pine nuts, peanuts.
Seeds: sunflower, pumpkin, sesame.
Nut butters: mostly peanut- and almond butter, sometimes cashew butter (delicious but very expensive).

Grains: Quinoa, oats, brown rice, muesli (unsweetened barley, oat, wheat, and rye flakes).

Legumes: favorites are chickpeas/garbanzo beans, green beans, black beans, kidney beans, lima beans, soy beans, brown and green lentils, green peas, sugar snaps/snap peas.

Dried fruits: raisins/sultana’s, dates, cranberries, apricots, apples, prunes/plums, figs, peaches, mango’s.

Vegan ‘milks’: Almond, rice, oat, soy and coconut milk.

Tofu, tempeh, seitan.

Flaxseed
Wheat bran
Unsweetened coco powder
Shredded coconut
Sun dried tomatoes
Extra virgin olive oil, walnut oil
Soy sauce

Looking forward to seeing what you all eat every day/week!

great idea for a thread!

i think we might already have one like this though. If so someone point it out to me and I'll merge them together.

Anyway here's mine

pantry
oatcakes
peanut butter (until recently ... think i may be intolerant of it)
marmite
creatine
more oatcakes
nuts or seeds (I buy nuts in bulk)
protein powder (a pea, hemp blend)
lentils and or chickpeas
some sort of grain (cous cous and quinoa i like)
coconut milk
flax seed

fridge
vegan spread (right now Pure)
85% chocolate bars (I prefer Divine but Green and Blacks is ok)
hummus
bunch of veg. Most of my fruit is frozen.
Engine Shed pressed tofu

freezer
some sort of fake meat junk is usually there
frozen coconut milk
frozen lentils or chickpeas
frozen fruit

I will add as more occurs to me!

Sorry if I missed that, have been reading al lot in the nutrition section, but I hadn't seen it yet.

Thanks for your list! Hummus is great indeed, but I didn't list it because I always make it myself from chickpeas etc. :)

Great list. Wish I could find things like silken tofu and nutritional yeast where I live. I've found so many recipes I'd like to try that have things in them I can't find yet.

Yeah, but importing things from many countries could cause problems with customs in my country and then they charge you high import-charges (or whatever the word for that is :) ).
