UFC 125 and 126

Two of the best cards in a long time as I see it. I really look forward to Edgar/Maynard, Guida/Goomi and Diaz/Kim and even more on 126 Bader/Jones, Griffin/Franklin and I even have high hopes for Belfort vs Silva. Whats your predicitions?

125

Edgar, Gomi, Diaz, Vera, Leben

126

Silva, Jones, Torres, Omigawa, and last but not least KID :D . I honestly can't pick Griffin/Franklin. They're almost the exact same fighter in my book.

Did you watch either the Sengoku or Dynamite!! cards yesterday, hoff?

have you ever had it this wrong before? :)

great fights!

Loved the championship fight - intense!

Draw was a good call - not enough draws IMO.

And yes that draw was a fantastic call.

Disagree.

I think Edgar benefitted from a phenomenon you see quite regularly in the boxing ring. When a guy is getting heavily beaten, the judges score well for any kind of subsequent recovery. Also the "ten point must" scoring system is very poor at reflecting big rounds vs tight rounds.

I'm not sure why Edgar was disappointed at the end, the draw was the very best he could have hoped for in my opinion. Maynard won at least one of the last four rounds, and the first had to be 10-8 at best. With Edgar nearly out twice I'd have gone 10-7.

Great fight though, the kind that is all too rare in the UFC.

Absolutely agreed. But given the circumstances, I had it:

10-8 GM
9-10 FE
10-9 GM
9-10 FE
9-10 FE

The rounds most constested seem to be the first (10-8 vs. 10-7) and the last (super close, probably should have been a draw in another scoring system = Maynard wins). But again, within the 10pt must, I see this as a draw :)

Agreed on both counts.

What are your thoughts on the Strikeforce HWGP?

i didn't think the first round was a 10-7 because frankie actually landed a couple strikes. to me in order to get a 10-7 you have to be untouched.

I must admit, Im a bit disappointed with 126. Probably beacause of too high expectations from the card.
Somehow none of the fights took off.

Cerrone vs Kelly was the only highlight for me.
Torres played it save. Nothing happened in the Ellenberger vs Rocha fight. Same for Griffin vs Franklin.
And both Jones and Silva faced too little resistance.

The best part is that Anderson Silva claims Steven Segal made him master this technique.

WTF! The old secret Aikido kick? It does look like Steven is eating less pies though.
