Not the best site in the world, as far as teaching is concerned, but it is our dojo, and I like it. :D www.elitekarate.com

See if you can guess which ones are Séamus and I (if you don't already know.) There is a picture of my foot doing a roundhouse kick to somebody's head this time about last year - which looks pretty cool, especially as most of me is out of view. Experts though, point out what I was doing wrong. (I cringe at that picture now.)

Shorinji Kenpo (Kempo)

Postby Scott » Fri Sep 24, 2004 6:29 pm

"Shorinji Kenpo is a non-profit Japanese martial art with its leading principles being that of self-defense, spiritual growth, and improved health." That means that all teachers are volunteers; therefore money never gets in the way.

Student website - basic overview of the art:
http://www.bestbread.ca/shorinji

Official Headquarters site:
http://www.shorinjikempo.or.jp

One of the California branches
has taken it upon themselves to
be the official English language site:
http://wsko.econ-net.or.jp

The only thing I don't like about Shorinji Kenpo is all of that bloody Japanese ceremony we have to endure at seminars. Drives me nuts!

Before I check out the site, could you tell me why the site may upset vegans and veggies? I don't want to go on it if it is really going to upset me. On the other hand, I really like Gatka, from the little I know of it, and would like to know more.

They kill some animals, and show the pictures.

That would upset most of the Sikhs I know personally.

Not so long ago I witnessed a Sikh gentleman pull a sword on pro hunters, and run them out of Wolverhampton. "Dirty Pervert," he shouted, as the land rover disappeared into the distance. "What kind of filth kills an innocent animal."

I know there are a lot of passionately veggie Sikhs here, I just don't know how widespread it is. We had a vegan Sikh turn up at a local temple, and plead with them not to eat "their kin." Wish we could get him to the Heart of England Vegan Festival!

I have removed the link from Niranjana's post, as it is offensive to many people, including me.

For a great site on using Tai Chi as a martial art (also has healing pages too) try

http://www.taijiworld.com/

I've met and trained with Erle Montaigue and he is about the best I have ever met. Also advocates vegan diet for health and training.
