:D :D :D :D :D

good to see the martial arts forum up n' running!
I hope it won't degenerate to the good 'ol "my art beats your art - which is a dumb art anyooh, so there - I even have a videoclip to prove it, booya!"

figured I'd do a quick pres of my martial arts interest for y'all 8)

me myself I practice the Leung Ting brand of Wing Tsun and the Escrima Concept - all in the "world martial arts alliance". also I do a bit of our qi-gong system now and then.

edit: Wing Tsun for a year now - got my 4th SG the 8th of May. and Escrima I've been at for a month or two!
:end 'o edit

previously I've done a year or two of kendo - half a year of iaido. Miss them both a great deal :( hopefully I'll get into it again if I can squeeze 'em into my schedule.. also I have a bit of interest in practicing BJJ (as there is a lack of Mike Pyle's GAP here in Malmoe) and/or aikido.

all this I combine with a bit of gymtraining (which messes up me WT, of course) and jogging and bikeriding and swimming and all the rest =P~~~

which is a bout it.. my interest is more on the "getting perfect technique and flowing with the cosmos" plane than competeing. bit of self defency too I guess.
please reveganise me =(

Nah - never happen. Us lot on this forum are too nice! (Apart from anyone who does a different martial art from me - booya!)

Seriously I think it will be great for people to compare training regimes and different styles - and I hope Billy will post here, as I am really interested to hear how she does at tai chi! This should be a really varied and friendly forum.

Woohoo indeed! It's nice to have a forum all our own. . .

Jeeze, I hope Tai Chi isn't too evil, I'm just starting up :D.

Also, moderators, I noticed in your list of examples of martial arts, there was no mention of Hapkido or Tae Kwon Do . Hee, hee, just kidding, I don't care  .

 we could list all martial arts - but it would take the whole page ;)

Hmmm... perhaps it should just say "whatever your style blah blah"? Or "Discussion related to martial arts, equipment, training, conditioning and so on" and leave the styles out?

We don't really mind! We are taking the piss folks

I would leave it as it is. I was pleased to see a soft martial art listed, cause some tai chi folks mightn't otherwise look on the forum.

Well you know that the next step is a different forum for every art right? :)

i think individual threads are neccessary. general discussions can go on general threads. martial arts is a way different medium than weighttraining. there are some similarities, but mostly differences. the individual threads will sink to the bottom in time, but at least someone passing through will know there is a silat boy on this board. cheers.
