Postby BrandonB » Sat Mar 03, 2012 9:58 pm

Just stumbled on to this. Twins now makes special order synthetic Muay Thai gloves. Twins makes good quality stuff, and I'll probably order a pair soon. Here's the link:

Did you order these? Any review on their quality?

NatB: i've had ... -p/sp3.htm for years and like them. only downside is that they're a bit bulky, so i wouldn't recommend them for mma.

Unfortunately the quality of the twins synthetic leather gloves is really bad. I've been using a 16oz pair for less than 5 months and the synthetic material already started to break.

They are far worse than the synthetic 10-oz Leone i've been using until now.

This is a big problem for me, as i need a good pair of synthetic 16oz gloves. Any other ideas?

Regarding shinguards: there are a lot of Leone models who are synthetic and ok, but there are also a few thai brands with models like this:
I've been using a pair of Fairtex SP5 for almost a year and they are good, maybe a bit too soft.

Hayabusa Tokushu gloves are made of a synthetic/engineered leather material called Vylar. I bought a pair of 16oz around the first of the year and I like the fit, and feel of them. I can't give a review of them as sparring gloves since I haven't managed to do a ton of sparring with them yet. As we get closer to tourney time in May we'll be ramping up sparring at the Bando gym, so I should be able to give a better idea. My Ba Gua teacher has the Tokushu MMA gloves and loves them.

They are pricey, though.
