Jon Fitch pushing veganism

Postby No other way » Thu Dec 02, 2010 4:43 am

sorta. He had this to say on his twitter:

[quote]I'm not vegan yet, but the more I look into health and nutrition the less meat I eat.

He already doesn't eat dairy if I have my facts straight.

I've seen videos of him pushing for people to have mostly vegan diets and has said that when he's training for a fight he eats vegan.

It would be so nice to have one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world on our side.

Fitch is fighting BJ Penn at UFC 127 in Sydney. If I get to meet him while I'm there, I'll give him some encouragement. :)

Yeah, it does seem kind of strange. Like they all joined a cult or something

Honestly, they probably see it as a competitive advantage over their opponents. Avoiding acidic food like meat probably helps them to lessen the negative effects of the lactic acid that they have to battle in their training/fights.
Are you doing enough to be the best?

From an interview with Kenny Florian (talking about Fitch):

[quote]"I just was with him at the last UFC in Vegas [UFC 126] he's actually walking around at 176lbs," Florian stated. "He's a vegan now. He's 100 percent vegan. He's changed his whole lifestlye. And the first thing I said to him 'Man, you're looking pretty darn skinny' and he said, 'yeah, I'm a vegan now and I'm 176lbs right now'."

Great that he's fully vegan but someone needs to introduce him to the bulker's thread.
