BJJ Training

Hi Guys,

Just wondered how many of the forum train in Brazilian Ju-Jitsu and what there typical training week would consist of. Also does your training centre around this or do you complement your weights/cardio with BJJ?

Hi,

I'm training BJJ and submission wrestling and sometimes I also do freestyle wrestling. I do one or two weight training sessions per week. Normally my training week looks like this:

Monday: 1,5 h BJJ + 1 h freestyle wrestling
Tuesday: 1 h submission wrestling + 1 h weights
Wednesday: 1,5 h BJJ
Thursday: 1 h weights + 1 h sparring BJJ or submission wrestling
Friday: 1,5 h BJJ
Saturday: 1,5 h BJJ or submission wrestling
Sunday: walking and streching

Our club offers a great amount of classes so it's easy to train a lot. There's also a small amount of weights around so I can do my weight training there also. I don't do extra cardio because i train with big guys and i feel that there's enough cardio for me as 62 kg woman :D Well of course I do my trips to tarining and back with a bike but it doesn's count. Grappling is great!

Hi all!

I train at Manchester Bjj Academy,

mon 7-9 nogi
tues 730-9 gi
weds 8-9 gi
thurs 730-9 gi
sat 10-12ish open mat

also a private lesson every second saturday.

I jog once on the weekend end with some hill sprints for general fitness.
For functional supplemental training for bjj i use bodyweight and kettlebell excercises x3 a week
each morning, i also dabble in joint mobility and ginastica natural, which is really fun and mimics some of the movements used in BJJ, more so joint mobility...

For specific fitness for bjj, the only thing to improve this is actual rolling/sparring.

if i am feeling overtrained i will generally leave supplemental training, as this comes second to bjj.
