Pavlik was the betting favourite, but I don't think Hopkins winning was a huge shock. There was a feeling that Pavlik was a bit over-rated.

I watched the fight though, and the nature of the victory was a big surprise to me. Hopkins took him to school. Pavlik landed nothing of note, barely won a round.

Hopkins is a modern great and is in fantastic shape for a 43 year old. I think he showed superior skills to Calzaghe in their fight but couldn't cope with Calzaghe's conditioning. He just has to pray that Jones can defeat Calzaghe and the calls for a Hopkins-Jones rematch are loud enough to force that fight.
