Contender Muay Thai - Channel 4

So, a long time after it was filmed, the Contender Muay Thai has appeared on UK screens.

Did anyone (apart from me!) see it?

I thought it was pretty good, but why call it the contender when John wayne parr and Yodosenklai (sp) were there >.>

I know its so we get to know them, but arent/werent they both world champs?

Steve Forbes who was runner up on the second series of the boxing Contender had previously held a world title too.

I know.

They even had Robin Reid on the UK Boxing Contender, a former World Champion, well into his 30s, who was simply looking for a last pay day. Some contender!

Sky Sports Prizefigher night earlier this year actually fulfilled the role of the Contender in a lot of ways. Lots of short fights between either up and coming boxers or club doormen types looking to go professional.

The winner, Martin Rogan from Belfast, subsequently was offered a fight with Audley Harrison............

Not yet.

The two thus far were pretty one sided.

I think this was because of the need for 'balance'.

Rather than pack the show with top fighters from Thailand, eastern Europe etc, they had a guy from Canada and one from the USA who were both defeated pretty easily.
