Overfishing

Postby danyka » Tue Apr 20, 2004 11:39 am

I heard this on the radio the other day, and it prompted me to research:

In the last decade, 90% of the world's large fish have been fished.

It brought me to tears, reading this article.

Bottom trawlers throw in nets that touch the floor, drag them along, take EVERYTHING in their path, only to get prawns and shellfish. Everything else gets thrown away, dead.

the 'everything else' outnumbers prawns by 830%.

This is absolutely devastating. And so many people just don't give a f*ck.
I am so sad with the world.

The only fishing people will be doing in the future is farm fishing and that is really going to fuck the ecosystem up.
