Consciously, can be, subconcsciously, you have serious issues with the concept of pornography itself, otherwise you wouldn't have equated exhibisionist human behavior with being created, raised and bread for a lifetime of torture and mutilation.
Next time, I'll spend the money on drugs instead.

One person's pornography is another person's erotica or art.

Neither is length of employment. Female porn actors have a working life of less than half that of men.

There needs to be a union.

Whilst not dismissing the possibility of there being some merits in 'Union Membership'. I would not neccessarily agree with the statement regarding 'Female porn actors have a working life of less than half that of men'. There are genres of porn titled 'Mature'. These apply to both Female and Male people in these films.

That doesn't matter, Xrodolfox's point would still stand. In the market for pornography, the demand for female pornography actors beyond a certain age would still be smaller, even if there is a submarket for older women actors in porn. So, it would come right back to his point that most women actors would only have half the career time.

I like how this has turned from a philosophical discussion into an economic one.

Anytime porn is discussed on the net, it goes from philosophical to economic, and then back again.

I think having a union, where workers were free to organize for their own collective interests instead of the market and organized business dictating just about everything... would mitigate some of the philosophical problems with porn. Not all, but many.

RBE.VeganZeitgeist wrote:Question for beforewisdom- How do you reach the conclusion that 'older women fall into a submarket'?? As well as Mature genres there are also Cougar and MILF-Predominantly Women in their 30's and older. If there wasn't a desire for these Women and a marketplace -then there surely wouldn't be a demand-which there clearly is.

I meant to convey that while there likely is a pornography market for women actors after a certain age, that market will not be as great as the pornography market for women actors of a younger age. Since the market for videos with older actresses will be much smaller, older actresses, except for a minority, will have a shorter career in pornography than men.......which brings up back to Xrodolphos point. Women pornography actors while getting some extra things also have to make do with shorter careers, unless they get one of the fewer openings for actresses beyond a certain age.

There is no way you think that is true, do you?

If you did the research, you'd find that the data does't support your hypothesis.

No, she leaves to sell herself to another employer. She's driven by the same hunger. Thus the worker's liberty is only a theoretical freedom, lacking any means of realization; an utter falsehood."
