There are a few incredibly biased comments, have a look, then perhaps give your biased opinions and vote up the good ones =)

I think there are more on the inside than out!

Saw this story in the metro yesterday, and a follow up letter today responding to comments that it was a step too far.

That's good news, most of the comments under the article seem positive/supportive.

the HMP source's comment wasn't so good though:
'They gave up any rights to have principals when they robbed the old lady, burgled a house, smuggled cocaine or beat someone up - it's as simple as that.'

^ because that's what most vegan prisoners have done right?
I imagine most vegan prosoners are in jail because of animal rights stuff - ie. trying to make the world a better place.

Apparently most of them go vegan once they are inside, partly to wind up the authorities and partly to ensure they have better quality food than the slop most prisoners get served up!

There are currently 14 animal rights prisoners in UK according to alfsg:
http://www.alfsg.org.uk/current_prisoners.html

so vast vast majority of vegan prisoners are in for reasons that most people end up in jail for.

vegans are people too, and people end up in jail :D

In the Netherlands there are prisoners they are vegan but also a bunch who order vegan meals because the other food is to bad for them.

Often they come more healthy out the prison then they came.

Yeah, when we have our christmas meal at work everyone always says they're gonna go for the vegan option next time because it looks much nicer than either the meat or veggie options.

It's great when vegan food is shown as either the healthier or tastiest option.

if i went to prison i'd hope to come out in the best shape of my life.

that is, if i didn't give up my right to elevated heart rates and pushups when i chose to rob some old lady.

anyhow, that's good that they can do that.

not sure i get "one brazil nut"
