Thought maybe if we all aim at meeting up at 1pm on the stall, we could get all the VBBers/VFers together & get to know each other, then hop over to see Robbies talk (anyone got a vid cam?). Of course you can pop over to the stall any other time too (or we'd get lonely!)
& of course check out Marys real food stall too http://www.realfood.org.uk/ for all those snacks (I take it you've got snacks  :?)

Hiya,
Malcolms Billy here, with temp access on Rochelle's computer - mine seems to be an ongoing problem unfortunately  Anyway, Mary, are you ordering 60 biccies or 60 packets of biccies??? Just wondering whether I should start baking a few weeks before the crimbo fayre or yesterday? :? :?:

See ya,
Malcolms Billy

Well, I would love to order 60 bags, but sanity prevails (sadly) and a skint wallet. So lets say 6. :)

London Vegan Festival today!

Postby Pete » Sun Jul 04, 2004 6:23 am

Right, I'm just off to the Vegan Festival. I'll let you all know how it gets on & take some pics.
For those of you still undecided. We've got the stall (with grippers to play with of course :) ). Robbie Hazeley is selling videos & T-shirts to fund his 2004 Mr Great Briatin bid & he's doing a talk at 1.50. If we could all meet at 1PM at the stall we could all meet each other & put some faces to the names 8)
Mary will also be doing the real foods stall
Deatials from http://www.veganfestival.freeserve.co.uk/2004/index.htm

See ya there!

Hello! Great to meet you Tom! Thanks for the Ju Jitsu moves, and also the suggestion for standing with one leg in the air until you faint in agony. Next time I need to have longer to chat - and you will have to correct my form with some of the warm up excercises. I think my dojo isn't as strict as yours, and having a masochistic impulse I want people to tell me when I am crap and could do better. :)

I got to meet Lee from FoA, something I have wanted to do for ages. Hi there Lee! Hope you get over the jet lag. And Séamus is currently asleep in his vegan power teeshirt from Robbie (which is doubling up as a sleeping bag.)

Pete - I didn't get to kick you around the room... damn! No seriously - those books look great! I want to see if I can track down Doug Hepburn's family or friends descendents, and see if he was actually a vegan.

Guess what - Neil's day will have been made. The nutritionist for his favourite football team, Manchester City (and I do mean his team) is a vegan! And a friend of a friend of ours. And tries to get them to train on a vegan diet. (Shame they don't play better though... )

That's it! Goodnight! I am knackered! It was great seeing you all.

Mary, it sounds like you had a great time. I'm glad you got to meet Lee. That's great news about the Manchester City nutritionist. Have him point the team to this website if he want to get them to train on a vegan diet.

Pete, hurry and get those picture up so the rest of us know what we missed out on.

Cheers,
Daniel

Cheers for the book Mary, its realy good I am about half way through. It was nice to meet the man him self (Pete). Didn't meet many other peeps I was all on my lonesome and left after Robbies talk.

I ate to much cake and was surprised to find mine tastes better than the stuff I tried (chocolate cake), I dont know how they made that angel stlye cake I have been missing that.

By the way Marry no more tahn 15 seconds on those static holds, that counts as one rep.

It would be cool if I could get together and train with some of the activists, maybe next time.

It would be cool to organise a martial arts demonstration for our next festival. You up for it Tom? A couple of other people could also be asked, so it wouldn't be just you entertaining the masses.

I am not so great at Kata on the hoof but Zansin my clubs Kata is quite impressive, I would not mind showing Jui Jitsu; like I showed you but I am no master.

It was discovered that I don't have a potato head after all. The pitfield beer shop was frequented, and I had a chat with a pirate.

Yes, I was going to mention that. Mr Potato Head walked up to the stall, chatted with me in a friendly fashion, and wondered why I didn't recognise him. Well, he had no potato head at all. Not mashed, not fried, not chipped or boiled- I feel quite let down. :( As an Irish woman I had quite looked forward to meeting a potato headed man.

All I can say is that Séamus was spared the disapointment, as he was elsewhere at the time, and presumably still believes that your avatar is in fact a photo from real life.

I'll have to do a quick write up for the London festival on the VBB site later. Here's a few of my highlights...
Meeting up with Mary again (shame Neil couldn't be there :( )...{PS I read those books, I'll write a bit on the "book" section in gen dis forum in a tick}
Meeting up with oak (that's some grip he's got, nearly crushed my hand, cool :) )
Meeting Tom (pity we couldn't talk longer mate :!: )
Hearing Robbie talk. There were about double the people than for Pat's talk (& some who'd gone to Pat's talk had started training-& it showed :) , so we're starting to make an impact!).
Meeting up with Chris, a veggie builder, who's gone from veggie, to only one veggie "cheat" a week (& he's going to get rid of that hopefully, very soon), due to us being there last year (he even bought a "Vegan Power" shirt to start wearing when he dumped the last veggie "cheat"- he's one big guy too!)
Seeing a guy get to less than an inch of a #3 :!: :!: :!: (& not a camera in sight :( )
Some low points...
Me not being able to fathom Robbies camera during his talk (so no pics of that :( )
Me having to demonstrate exercises at Robbies talk (thankfully most people had cleared off by then  )...
A humourous point...
Me doing a witty rendition of Robbie to Tim (of Yaoh) where he had to combine a talk with posing (well I found it funny & so did Tim, but he was drunk & I've got a weird sense of humour  )
