vegan festie in London in July?

Postby Malcolms Billy » Sat Mar 13, 2004 7:42 am

I've been asked to help a charity at a vegan festival in London, supposedly on 4th July. Never heard of a festie being held around that time though, apparently it's in Kentish Town hall, where the Cruelty Free Crimbo fayre was. Anyone from this neck of the woods have any ideas about this?

See ya,
Billy

I'm coming to the vegan fair in London!

Train tickets were more expensive than i would of liked, but £37 squid is fine i guess. Edinburgh to London.

I've encouraged all my pals in the London region to come along too, and they are excited about it as well. A whole troop of people!

Hopefully get a chance to meet even more people from the board?

Hey there Oak - do you know about the Vegan Scotland group? They are doing food fairs, one every six months, and are interested in organising a Scottish vegan festival! Woohoo!

If you don't have their contact details email me, and I will get them to you.

Yeah! Do you want to give me the details.

I was at a radical bookfair last weekend, at the one of the places in Scotland that i think would be excellent for a vegan event. It does cost £1000 a day though?
I'm thinking or certain places in Glasgow too. It would be great to get one organised.

A thousand pounds is worth it for an excellent venue. We paid more than that for Manchester. If it looks professional it means that people coming in will have confidence that things are being properly run, and you will make your money back. We spent about three and half grand on getting the North West Vegan Festival right, and we did make it all back (in fact we made enough to get started on the next one.)

Could you email me at mary@realfood.org.uk and I'll be able to go into more detail?

My friends were in Scotland last weekend and they said I would have loved it- that there were vegans and animals rights groups everywhere! I wish I had gone!

Just bumping up as it's this Sunday
London Vegan Festival, Kensington Town Hall, Horton Street, London Saturday 4th July 2004. www.veganfestival.freeserve.co.uk
Robbie Hazeley will be giving a talk on vegan bodybuilding (& selling his video & t-shirts). & VBB/VF will be getting their own table (after much confusion :!: ).
The only downer is I've lost a stone due to not eating properly (with this damn hayfever, got to start bumping up the calories now it's starting to subside!)

Hey Billy! Doggie biscuits? Or have you not had time to do any. Can't believe I didn't think to ask! The dogs would be grateful if there are any, cause they really went down well.

Unfortunately none of the Manchester crew is heading down south for the Festival, and as Billy's doesn't have internet access at the mo, I'm replying on her behalf to say that there will therefore be no dog biccies

Best of luck at the Festival, I hope you have found some help for the stall Mary?

I may have done - will know later.

We will have to get Billy to do biccies for Christmas without Cruelty then. I'll buy sixty. :D
