Great Vegan Athletes

Postby Konstantin » Wed Mar 26, 2014 1:01 pm

Perhaps it would help if I kept people up to date with what's happening at Great Vegan Athletes? If not, maybe you can just ignore this thread.

We just had some good news today, Canadian pairs figure skaters Duhamel and Radford just won Silver at the world Championships. Meagan Duhamel is vegan.

We're also aware that Vlad Ixel won an ultra recently, although he's also running a few mere marathons so we'll get his results all together. Vlad's only been running about a year and has some course records. He's young for an ultra runner too (26) so maybe he's the new Scott Jurek.

Yes, plant athlete are doing it a very different way but we've spoken by email and I like what they do. As long as there's a good pro vegan angle it's got to be good.

We've just added a new athlete to the site. She's a Canadian triathlete who is doing well in her U23 age category and already competing nationally with the elite women. She seems solid too, her coach was already vegan.

And some more news. Cyclist Christine Vardaros wore her 'vegan' kit to hit third in the Canadian Classic Paris to Ancaster. It took an Olympian and her friend to keep her off first place. http://www.greatveganathletes.com/conte ... s-ancaster

Vlad Ixel just got first in a 54km overnight trail ultramarathon in the Middle East. http://www.greatveganathletes.com/conte ... t-tel-aviv

You may be familiar with the world record Grand Slam last year by Fiona Oakes - she ran marathons on 7 continents faster than ever before. One of these was an extreme marathon (but she still got the record). She has just run another marathon in that region and therefore re-broken two records:
