Well I went to the Northern Vegan Festival last Saturday......it was really good!
First of all - it was busy! I had to queue for almost an hour to get into the event. People walking past the queue were asking what was going on. Some seemed surprised that so many people were there for a vegan event (or that there was a vegan event at all).
It was really busy inside! Glad I went alone because I was able to weave in and out of gaps as they formed. I tried cheese, ice cream, cake, sushi, raw chocolate and other stuff. The highlight for me would have to be a slice of spinach cake (green cake with a creamy top layer - delicious).
There were loads of sweet foods to choose from but there wasn't many stalls selling hot savoury food. So the few that were, were really busy. A few more stalls selling burgers (or pizza - didn't see any) would have been nice.
Anyways, it appeared to be a runaway success so I hope it becomes an annual event. Next time, I hope they pick a bigger venue and promote it more. I was expecting sign posting when I arrived in Manchester but there weren't any posters or directions etc.
Leeds next year?
