I donated blood today

Postby XkillerX » Tue Nov 03, 2009 11:00 pm

Is it vegan to donate blood to save (probably) deathatarians? The Inf would probably shoot me on sight for doing that. Luckily he's safely locked away in a looney bin.

Anyways, my 7th time and it was quite a miserable attempt, only managed to fill half of a half liter pack :(

I haven't done it for some years now. Shame, shame. But I plan to get back on track again. So. If you really feel like reaching out and giving strangers a helping hand, look no further than donating a pack of your precious bodily fluids.

More info here and everywhere else.
Next time, I'll spend the money on drugs instead.

Good on you mate!
I did it loads back home, but cant donate here because I am African so higher risk for stuff.

When I donated plasma they used to love how much more liquid mine was because of the low fat diet I had. The nurses would put them all on the table and poke mine to compare it to the others.

I used to donate but haven't recently. They used to come to the place I work and take hundreds of us in a day. I should try to find out where I can do it now.

A positive statement tarnished by a small minded negative statement

Most atheists see themselves as realists - their atheism is a part of their willingness to square up to the world as it is and face it without recourse to superstition or comforting fictions about a life to come or a benevolent power looking after us.

Think it's more to do with vCJD than foot and mouth. It's the same in Oz, they don't want blood from anyone who spent time in the UK between 1980 and 1996.

I think donating blood is a great thing to do.

Unfortunately, I've not given in a while. I really must. Although, since my blood is AB, there really is little demand for it.
Context is everything.

What did I miss?

I'm not allowed to give blood thanx to a violent ex forcibly injecting me with drugs many years back... am treated as if I had been an IV drug user of choice when I did nothing wrong

Two regulars on the site were getting increasingly abusive and misanthropic and drove so many people away from the forum that they got banned. Probably best not to say any more, as we've all moved on and it would be unhelpful to re-visit that time. I will PM you.

I hate the way they discriminate against so many groups of people, in particular gay men. Anyone would think they had masses and masses of blood! The pathetic assumptions they make really offend me and I don't give blood as a result, although I am beginning to question my reasoning there.

Thanx for explaining :) No need to go over it any further :)

I believe the rule about gay men donating blood is now being reviewed.
