Tim waving from Brisbane Australia!

Postby TimS » Mon Apr 02, 2012 8:19 am

Hi all :)
I live in subtropical Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. I am originally from Finland Scandinavia but been living in other countries for more than a decade. I have been following vegan diet for over 7 years now, aside being free of any animal products, my diet also doesn't contain garlic and onion, nor alcohol or any other drugs of any type, mostly not even caffeine.

What comes to fitness and exercise, I don't have any great achievements. I have some health issues and also need to find against becoming an obese vegan. So, to fight against it and trying to maintain my health, I do yoga (mostly Bikram recently), running, cycling and randomly other types of exercise.

In 4 weeks I am going to travel to Finland and attend Helsinki City Run half marathon and do lots of running and walking around the Helsinki area, and cycling too. Also I am going to visit Russia and Estonia.

Happy having found this forum and looking forward to meeting nice people here and getting useful tips in the conversations

Cheers :)

Hi TimS, welcome to VF.

Do you have a target time for the Half Marathon?
You can see my training log if you're really bored: www.veganfitness.net/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=16086&start=360

Thank you Konstantin :)

No, not really do I have a target time, just to survive since I haven't done a half marathon for 2 years and am struggling with 5 km these days. But of course I am dreaming of beating my little brother whom I have challenged! He is a frequent runner and does half marathon in about 1:47. So, if I can do better than 2:47 I'll be happy ;)

Welcome to VF, Tim......... :D
I eat to nourish my compassion, not my greed

I'm the man they couldn't kill ! I cannot be destroyed with conventional weapons !

And probably the former fastest British Vegan 10, 25 and 50 mile TT rider. Probably.

Hi :) Thanks for asking. It was very much fun but extremely tough for me. My training went quite badly, I felt I am not in shape and I even gained lots of weight and felt tired. I was sure I wont be able to run all the 21 km run. But I did it. Didn't do it very well, but survived and really enjoyed the event, it was a cool sunny spring day. My time was about 2:30, worse than 2 years ago.

I am still in Finland and I really enjoy my stay here. I have re-discovered my former home country. I have found lots of vegan food in shops and restaurants. It's high quality and it is cheap. I have met my family and old friends. I attended Vegfest, the vegan festival and really enjoyed it. Here are some photo's from the event https://picasaweb.google.com/1114618008 ... directlink

I will come back to Australia in the end of June and I have decided to try living in Melbourne, and really wish to find a vegan sharehouse to live in there.

I didn't come back to Australia in the end of June. Instead I decided to do a 4 week stopover in Hong kong. I really enjoy this place. Aside vegan dining I have done light yoga and swimming. It is too hot for my body to do much else.

Well, I will land to Melbourne next week 27/7. and start exploring. Hope the cool climate will help me to do more exercise: running and may be even cold water swimming with sauna, that they seem to have there.
