Hello from Sweden

Postby Karl » Sat Oct 30, 2010 6:33 pm

Hi My name is Karl from Uppsala, Sweden. I have been a vegetarian since ’97. Since a while back I am trying to leave out dairy in my diet (which is a problem when you eat out, otherwise no problems)

I joined this forum to find inspiration when it comes to training and get dietary tips, since all of my friends are meat eaters.
When it comes to working out I enjoy running, lifting weights, down hill skiing. This winter I am planning to start cross country skiing as well.
Other interests; Music, food, hanging out with friends etc.

Ps. Since most restaurants in Sweden serves quite crappy veg. food. I urge all Swedish people in this forum to print the pdf on the link below and hand out or email to restaurants http://www.djurensratt.se/portal/page/p ... amenyn.PDF

Välkommen! I am from Uppsala, but moved to austria two years (allmost) ago. As far as I know Uppsala is pretty bad when it comes to vegan options, but the restaurants mekong (if it is still around?) and messob both have excellent vegan options .

They oftenget confused by the fact that they are almost half protein themselves.

Välkommen! I work in Uppsala.

Sadly Mesob hasn't got lunch anymore and Mekong is closed. Instead there is a cuban resturant at the same place, I heard they have some vegan stuff but I'm not sure. I find Golden China the best option when I eat out.

Where do you do your lifting?

I agree golden china have some nice dishes. And amazing thai offer tofu instead of meat if you ask. Otherwise if you want to eat out in the evenings you are quite limited. GH have a really nice restaurant once a month (if you have a student card).
A new favourite is the sushi place at the central station which offer sea weed salad , soy beans, sprouts and kimchi.

I do my lifting at Friskis (väderkvarnsgatan)
