Hello Everyone.

I just started posting here yesterday. You will find me posting mostly on the powerlifting board and bodybuilding board. Just noticed this section down beneath that area tonight.

better to have an intro late than never!

Welcome to the board John, hope you'll like it here and get all the info & support in giving Ryan a good run for the strongest vegan in the vegan power table :D

Look forward to see you both edge eachother upwards ;)

Have you been thinking of entering powerlifting comps?

I have begun thinking about entering into some powerlifting events. I am hoping to find some natural & raw events to enter so I can be competitive. I don't use any lifting gear and have no interest in competing with people using steroids. I will, of course, compete against those people anyway but I'd rather have an even playing field. I am hoping to get my totals into the 1500-1650 range next year and qualify for nationals, but that is going to take a lot of work.

Thanks for the welcome wagon,

yeah, you just have to lift against yourself really to start with - hardly any competition is 100% natural anymore, just look at the monsters in the top weight classes even in IPF competitions! Sure they may be "natural" on the day of the comp, but couple months before that who knows...

Do you think you could diet down under 90kg weight class?

JP,

I hate dieting, but beyond that I don't think I can get beneath the 90kg weight class. I was around 215 and have dropped down to 201 already, for me to drop another 20 pounds I'd have some serious muscle loss occur. I was originally worried about even getting down to the 198 pounds (90kg) becaues I thought the hard training would end up adding several pounds of muscle to push me into the 220 (100kg) spot. So far I have impressed myself with the fat coming off and the strength continuing to improve with out having any special diet.

what i mean was the 90kg class, 90 >, which would be just 3 pounds away ;) Guys in the 90 class are always very close to the 90 mark, 88-89kg, and then in the 100 class they are equally close to the top of range, 97-99kg. Thats just my uninitiated observation though.

my ideal weight would be 99.99kg :)

Oh, I just misunderstood you. I plan on competing in the 90kg weight class. When I began thinking about which weight class to go for I weighed in at 215 pounds, which is about 97kg I think. I knew that I could get my weight down to 198 and still put up 'big' weights based on the fact that I still haven't bested some of my numbers from when I weighed only 190 pounds (~86kg) and I had been carrying some fat.
