I asked Charles, who owns the company, about CA, and here's another option in the US:

Vega is great - I haven't tried the bars yet, but agreed... Vega is pricey. Anyone got recommendations for the best bar flavour?

I ended up writing the company to get some more info and they sent me sample packs. I was a big fan of the berry but I mix mine with almond milk (not water!). I really liked it and how many great ingredients are in it. But, as someone else already said, it's a little bit pricey. I work at an organic grocery store, so I get a staff discount, but it's still too expensive for me to be able to rationalize buying it.

hmm..my tastes vary with the bar, overall i like the cocoa (better description than 'chocolate'.) I find the berry a little too strong, so the natural is my next favorite. Most people i've talked to seem to like the berry best.

The price is a bit hard to face, but remember that it's a full meal replacement, and how much you're actually getting out of it...it's actually a pretty good value.

They also have an Ambassador program, where you can 'represent' them, and get a killer discount (below cost i believe..) That's always an option too, if you're keen on superior nutrition. ;)

Vega is really catching on here in the States too. We just launched it in the US in March at the Natural Product Expo in California, and in the past couple of months it found its way into stores all over the country. It's still fairly slow in some areas, but hopefully in 6-12 months, you'll be able to find it almost anywhere in the US.

Here is the list of places you can find Vega (over 1,300 stores)

Has anyone else had problems with intestinal gas using Vega? I bought some and used it once, and had bad bloat and stomach pains for two days. Or do you think its too much protein at once (followed directions on package). I have been using ProPerformance 95 Soy Protein with soy milk with out any problems and I am assuming the protein amounts of the two are similar. Maybe I should cut the scoop size of the Vega by half. I don't want to waste it.

hmm..i get a lot of gas using *other* powders, but not from Vega.

I usually take half-servings tho. One in the morning, and then a second in the evening after a ride...haven't had any bad experiences with full servings that i can recall..

Are you mixing it with soymilk?

I think when I made it, I mixed it with juice (hides the wheat grass taste).

I've never noticed any gas or any wheatgrass taste... The thing that got me at first was the stevia (an herbal sweetener) taste, but after the first few times I barely even notice that anymore.

Vega is definitely not cheap but is comparitively very economical & competitively priced for the type of product it is, the fact that it contains so much great stuff and none of the fillers & other crud some other products have. While I have no problems with soy myself, it's also very cool to have a great high-protien product thats totally soy-free.

Plus more folks using Vega & more stores carrying it will help bring the price down! :D

If any folks in Portland, Oregon want to try Vega for free, get in touch!

I like Vega a lot too. Since it is so expensive, I save it for after long and/or hard workouts and after big races. I think it really helps with recovery.
