Name:bulkpowders pea protein isolate
Taste: Salted cardboard. Makes EVERYTHING else you eat taste better!
Website: www.bulkpowders.co.uk
Protein Grams per serving:35
Cost per serving:28p
Comments:Ok, so it doesn't taste good, its unflavoured pea protein, however, it IS very finely ground so it makes a smooth shake. I've got used to the taste now, but when I want to treat myself I mix some nesquick banana powder in with it - very nice! Its also nicer if you mix with soy milk instead of water - in fact ANYTHING I add to it makes it taste better! I like the product as it has a high protein content (85%) and is the cheapest by far that I could find on the net.
Name: Sativa Shakes Viva Sativa Hemp Protein Kiwi & Lime
Taste: Unfortunately the kiwi and lime flavour just seems to add to the bitterness of hemp.
Website: http://sativashakes.com/proteinshake/vi ... p-protein/
Protein Grams per serving: 13.7g
Cost per serving: £1.10
Comments: I like that they sell it in a pouch, and that it is one of the most "natural" shakes you can get, sweetened with stevia rather than aspartame. I don't mind artifical sweeteners but I know it bothers a lot of people so it's nice to have a shake like this out there. Texture was really good, really smooth, and taste is more manageable mixed with a scoop of other flavoured protein (like vanilla soy protein). Also contains a whack of fibre and omega 3, 6 and 9.
Name: Sativa Shakes Viva Sativa Hemp Protein Toffee
Taste: Better than kiwi & lime but the toffee still can't mask the hemp
Website: http://sativashakes.com/proteinshake/vi ... p-protein/
Protein Grams per serving: 13.7g
Cost per serving: £1.10
Comments: Same as above. Texture is still really good, almost tastes good mixed with vanilla soy protein. Worth having in the repertoire.
Name: Sativa Shakes High Pro Protein Blend Strawberry & Banana
Taste: Very mild, a little chalky but not artifically sweet, very drinkable after a hard session
Website: http://sativashakes.com/proteinshake/vi ... ein-blend/
Protein Grams per serving: 22.3g
Cost per serving: £1.10
Comments: Really smooth texture (only when blended with shaker - don't try fork or spoon in a cup!), mild taste, not too artifical, would go really nicely in a smoothie I would imagine! Again, sweetened with stevia rather than artifical sweeteners.
Name: Sativa Shakes High Pro Protein Blend Chocolate Caramel
Taste: Still not too sweet but the flavour is more potent, quite pleasant, doesn't leave as weird an aftertaste as the MyProtein chocolate Vegan Blend does.
Website: http://sativashakes.com/proteinshake/vi ... ein-blend/
Protein Grams per serving: 21g
Cost per serving: £1.10
Comments: As above, smooth and easily drinkable, would probably be amazing in a milkshake concoction by people less lazy than me, sweetened with stevia, etc.
Name: Reflex Vegan Protein (Strawberry flavour)
Taste: Like small drops of heaven! Pretty standard/good strawberry milkshakey kind of taste.
Website: http://www.reflex-nutrition.com/vegan-protein.html
Protein Grams per serving: 18.5g
Cost per serving: 43p
Comments: Have made my own shake mixes since the beginning of time, but thought I'd give this a go, with the idea of maybe having some semi-tasty shakes on days off to get protein intake a bit higher than usual. Having had a shady MP flavoured soya protein on recommendation from that Baldy character, I was reluctant, but pleasantly surprised by this badboy. Smelt a bit dodgy, strawberry with a hint of pea protein, but just mixed it with plain soya milk to get a true taste, and was awesome. Always blend my shakes, but just mixed this in my shaker with a mix ball, and was sound, no lumpy bits at all. Good value I'd say, and overall would give it 10/10, I can't see anything bad about it to take points off!
Name:My Protein Vegan Blend Chocolate
Taste: Very chocolatey and sweet, totally hides the pea and hemp tastes /// Neutral. one scoop in 700mls of soy milk (one full shaker for me) tastes a bit thin, with a touch of the malty, horlicks-y flavour that pea protein has, but dialled down a notch. Not massively chocolatey.
Website:http://www.myprotein.com/uk/products/vegan-blend
Protein Grams per serving: 20g
Cost per serving: 63p
Comments: Why can't all shakes taste this good? The horrible pea, hemp and rice protein tastes are totally masked by the chocolate flavour. It also mixes really easily without getting too thick. I make it with 300ml of water or soya milk, easily drinkable shake and not something you dread having to down. Nearly good enough flavour to be milkshake. A very good blend, really impressed by this. /// So the flavour is fine, if a touch bland. Texture is nice, a little grainy (the hemp I'm guessing) but not unpleasant, and the other ingredients make it smooth enough. Convenient, and potable, just not quite the revelation I was expecting from everyone else's reports...
Name: Myprotein Pea protein
Taste: Malty, with a faint bouquet of fart.
Website: http://www.myprotein.com/uk/products/pe ... in_isolate
Protein per serving: 24g
Cost per serving: at £9.50 a kilo, about 29p a serving
Comments: Mixes smoothly, tastes strong but malty, which goes alright with coccoa powder and a couple of teaspoons of sugar. Mad cheap.
Name: Myprotein Brown Rice protein
Taste: grit, with an aftertaste of rice-krispies-left-in-sock-overnight
Website: http://www.myprotein.com/uk/products/brown_rice_protein
Protein per serving: 24g
Cost per serving: at £14 a kilo, about 40p a serving
Comments: Not as bad as it smells, but not a pleasant taste. Slightly gritty texture too, not as bad as hemp, but not smooth. Drinkable though, and pretty cheap.
Name: Vega Sport Protein
Taste: Amazing, they reformulated the whole Vega Sport range recently and the taste is even better.
Website: http://www.amlaberry.co.uk reviewers website
Protein Grams per serving: 25g
Cost per serving: £1.75
Comments: Added 5g of BCAA's, L-Glutamine and Digestive Enzyme Complex
Name: Good gym chocolate hemp
Taste: I mixed the sachet together with 500ml unsweetened soya milk and creatine. It tasted really smooth, liked it a lot.
Website: http://www.goodhempnutrition.com/14-goo ... tive-range
Protein Grams per serving: 17g
Cost per serving: got the sachet for free, but they are like £2 each on their website - very expensive!
Comments: It was much better than I thought it would be. Pretty low in protein but it is hemp so that's to be expected. For hemp protein though it is really tasty. Probably going to order a 1kg tub of the chocolate - which is less expensive - and cut it with the myprotein pea protein that I have. Probably too expensive as a standalone protein supplement.
Name:Good gym shake - strawberry
Taste: Terrible. Like strawberry flavoured mud.
Website:http://www.goodhempnutrition.com/good-gym-range/49-good-gym-shake-1kg-strawberry.html
Protein Grams per serving: 18.5g
Cost per serving: £1.40
Comments: Loads of artificial sweetener flavour fails utterly at disguising the soily, sandy flavour of the hemp, and at the same time, the strawberry flavour just doesn't sit with it all. Feel quite bad because the chocolate flavour is bearable, almost pleasant at times, but the strawberry one just doesn't work for me. Gritty with it, but then it's hemp so whatever.
Name: Good hemp nutrition: Muscle shake (Chocolate)
Taste: Chocolaty and slightly gritty
Website: goodhempnutrition.com
Protein Grams per serving: 41.2gms per suggested 70gm serving or 25gms per 42 gram serve
Cost per serving:£2.99 per suggested serve or £1.76 for 25gms of protein per serve
Comments: I've never been a fan of hemp protein due to it being associated with hippy vegans, who think it is the greatest thing in the world, the fact that it has a tiny amount of protein compared to cheaper options and that it tastes horrible, usually. I blended it up with almond milk and it actually tasted good and the grittiness was barely noticeable. Blending with soy milk was not as good. If I had a high income I would consider occasionally adding this to my shakes but would never make it my staple.
Name: MYPROTEIN Chocolate Smooth Soy Protein Isolate
Taste: Very good, almost up to tasting like nesquick 6.5/10
Website: http://www.myprotein.com/uk/products/so ... in_isolate
Protein Grams per serving: 27
Cost per serving: £0.50 (£16.49/33)
Comments: A tasty shake that you can drink 2 times a day without gaggling and getting sick of the taste. The flavour is strong enough that you can add some pea protein to improve the amino acid profile and still keep the drinkability.
Name: Nature's Whey Ignite Ultra-V
Taste:
Strawberry - incredible, I have never known a strawberry protein shake to taste so good
MintChoc – Nice taste, more mint that chocolate. I had it with water and it was very drinkable nearly a pleasant taste. With soya milk I think it would be even better
Banana - tasty, but very sweet and artificial, which doesn't bother me but will be too much for many
Black cherry - disappointingly my least favourite, it had a strange bitter plasticky aftertaste but on the whole was not bad.
They also have a toffee flavour which I haven't tried.
Website: http://www.natures-whey.co.uk/
Protein Grams per serving: 40g
Cost per serving: £1.33
Comments: Pea protein with dextrose, creatine, glutamine, peruvian maca, oats, and a bunch of amino acids. Suitable for coeliacs.
Name: Sunwarrior Raw Protein
Taste: Not as silky as a Soy based protein powder but one of the best non-soy tasting protein powders you will come across
Website: http://www.amlaberry.co.uk reviewer's website
Protein Grams per serving: 17g
Cost per serving: 0.85p
Comments: Raw, smooth, easily digestible and is naturally rich in vitamins and minerals. Some studies have shown Sunwarrior Raw protein can increase the absorption of vitamins.
Name: GOOD FIT Shake Strawberry
Taste: I was hoping for a tasty shake, unfortunately the hempyness is not masked by the strawberry flavour or sweetness. I mixed it will soya milk and it was certainly drinkable but not up to tasting like a milkshake or something you would want to drink.
For taste I would give it 4/10
Website: http://www.goodhempnutrition.com/good-h ... shake.html
Protein Grams per serving: 10g
Cost per serving: 90p a serving.
Comments: Nutrition wise its solid basic shake, not really big enough to be called a meal replacement more a snack replacement. Protein is only 10g so probably targeted at more endurance market. As with most hemp based shakes, it still tastes and feels like someone has added a table spoon of river sand to your shaker.
Name Ironscience - pea protein
Taste: like being punched in the throat but what d'you expect hippy?
Website: http://www.ironscience.co.uk/
Protein Grams per serving: 25g per 30g scoop

Comments: Buy two bags. You'll love it.
Name: Soy Protein Isolate Strawberry cream
Taste: kind of nesquick like artificial strawberry, not much of a nasty after taste.
Website: http://www.myprotein.com/uk/products/so ... in_isolate
Protein Grams per serving: 27
Cost per serving: £0.50
Comments: Very tasty drinkable shake and not ridiculously expensive. I sometimes mix it 50/50 with pea protein, which makes it cheaper per serving and probably improves the amino acid profile.
Name:NitroFusion (also marketed as PlantFusion)
Taste: A bit sweet with strong flavour (e.g., berry flavour very berry tasting) but quite pleasant and by far the most palatable I have tried

Name:Nutrafusion/Plantfusion
Taste: 4 flavors ranked by tastiness 1)Chocolate Raspberry 2)Vanilla Bean 3)Chocolate 4)Unflavored
Website:http://plantfusion.net/
Protein Grams per serving:21g for the flavored varieties and 22g for the unflavored
Cost per serving:~$1.94 USD online
Comments:
Was expecting bad things because It contains stevia which I HATE, but I couldn't really taste it. Even the unflavored powder was pleasantly non-stevia tasting. The chocolate and unflavored varieties had a bit of an aftertaste that I didn't notice in the other two flavors, but it wasn't bad. I think it's the artichoke protein. Chocolate Raspberry is my favorite by a wide margin but none of the others were bad. All flavors mixed very easily with 500 ml of soy milk or water in a blender bottle. Plantfusion is one of the best tasting protein powders I've ever had, but it's a bit too expensive to recommend to someone consuming large quantities of protein powder.
Name:Genisoy Soy Protein Shake, Chocolate
Taste: Taste like cocoa powder, would likely be good as a hot cocoa mix which I plan on testing this winter
Website:http://www.genisoy.com/Soy-Protein-Shake--Chocolate/p/GEN-041702&c=Genisoy@Shakes
Protein Grams per serving:14g
Cost per serving:~$0.97 USD online ~$0.89 USD locally
Comments: Mixes well, tastes good, contains 25-100% of various vitamins and minerals, one of the cheapest available at my regular grocery store
Name: True Nutrition Vegan Protein Optimizer Formula
Taste: Not bad, with peanut butter, a banana, and water, it makes a delicious shake. Just in water its a little gritty and tastes how you would expect pea and hemp protein to taste.
Website: http://www.truenutrition.com
Protein per serving: 23.3 g per 30g serving
Cost per serving: base price is $6.19 per pound so $0.41 per serving without shipping. I got the bulk discount and got a discount code, with shipping figured in it is still less than $0.5 per pound.
Comments: Good quality, great service. There are options for flavors, sweeteners, and other additives. They have a custom mix option too. They also have discounts codes readily available if you just google it for %5 off your order. Thanks Adena for turning me on to this.
Name: Genisoy Soy Protein Shake Vanilla Flavor
Taste: like imitation vanilla cookies, only slightly chalky
Website: http://www.amazon.com/Protein-Shake-Van ... _sim_hpc_2
Protein per serving: 14g
Cost per serving: at the $15.99 I paid 0.89/serving, at the current amazon price 0.64/serving
Comments: Is pretty tasty, definitely better than the bulk soy/pea/rice I normally use. Mixes very smooth in a blender bottle. Tons of vitamins and minerals. Has a little V on the back, denoting it's suitable for vegans
Australia
Name: P-Tech / NHS Rice Protein. (same formula, different brands)
Taste: Imagine drinking muddy water.
Website: http://elitehealthsupplements.com.au/ca ... ce-protein
Protein Grams per serving: 23.7g per 30g serving
Cost per serving: $1.65 AUD (33 servings in 1kg tub)
Comments: This is what I have used for the past few years. It's expensive where I buy it locally. There are other rice proteins I have found online, which are cheaper and a slightly different formula, which actually taste ok. So with rice protein, you can either have this one, which has an almost smooth texture, but tastes like dirt, or you can have one that has the texture of sand and tastes ok.
Name: Bulk Nutrients vanilla or chocolate rice/pea/soy protein isolate.
Taste: Chocolate is my favourite. Tastes great and is smooth.
Website: rice, pea, soy
Protein Grams per serving: ~25g per 30g serving.
Cost per serving: $0.45 AUD if you buy 20kg.
Comments: Also comes in 1kg, 2kg, 5kg or 10kg. Obviously cheaper per serving the more you buy.
Name: Fit Bits Brown Rice Protein Isolate
Taste: Well, we are talking about rice protein here, so.. not woderful.
Website: http://fitbits.com/index.php?main_page= ... cts_id=192
Protein Grams per serving: 29.8g protein per 40g serving
Cost per serving: 70 cents (AUD)
Comments: Same gritty texture as most rice proteins, but good value.
Name: Vital Protein pea protein isolate
Taste: Natural- not chalky, tastes like ground peas. Chocolate- also not chalky, lightly sweet and pretty good, the powder smells like chocolate cake mix.
Website: http://www.vitalgreens.com
Protein Grams per serving: natural- 22g/serving, Chocolate- 20.5g/serving
Cost per serving: 1.99/ serving (based on a 500g tub)
Comments: I really don't have problem with the pea taste. This stuff mixes up really easily with just a spoon and some water, I don't blend it, and it goes down really easy. Unlike other powders I've tried, this doesn't have a super chalky taste and the natural when mixed with water just tastes like water with a bit of pea in it. The chocolate flavor is not a super sweet chocolate milkshake kinda thing, just slightly sweet and a good mix up from taking the natural all the time.
