Hi everyone - I'm new here and a recent new vegan. I have been vegetarian for the past decade or so and I've decided to cut out all the stuff that comes from animals and eat a plant based diet. It's been a long time coming but I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to short myself on any essential nutrients... Which brings me to:
Harmonized Vegan Protein by Progressive Nutritional Therapies. I searched through the forums here and couldn't find a review or comment on this stuff. It's a Canadian company and they use some organic and ALL non-gmo ingredients which is nice. The protein comes from Yellow Pea, Sprouted brown rice, hemp, cranberry seed protein and chia protein.
I bought the vanilla which is pretty vanilla-ish (the only other options were berry and natural). It's sweetened with Stevia and in my opinion is WAY too sweet and almost made me gag the first time I used it. But it mixes well and it's one of the least expensive vegan protein supplements I could find at $40.00 CND for 840g. One scoop is 35g and 25g of that is protein which seems pretty good for a vegan protein. Other ingredients are flax seed powder, vegan enzymes, kelp, dulse, spirulina, downey birch, dandelion root, k-r-alpha lipoic acid, banana leaf extract and corn silk.
If I can learn to choke down the sweetness, I'll be using this as my main protein supplement because I haven't found anything organic/non-gmo for this cheap. I wrote to the customer service department to see if they used any solvents or bad stuff in their extraction process and I have yet to hear from them. When I get a response, I'll be sure to update this thread if anyone is interested.
Cheers!
Nate.
