Any pre-made vegan shakes out there?

Postby Fallen_Horse » Wed Jun 06, 2012 2:45 am

Hi all!

My new job requires me to be out in the field (literally the desert) for up to 30 hours at a time, so pre-planning meals is very important. I have been taking Builder Bars out there, but the flavors are getting VERY old, and I am looking for a good pre-made vegan protein shake, like a vegan Muscle Milk. Does such a product exist (in the US)?

have you tried purefit bars? I used to love their... was it almond berry one, the best bar EVER!

organic food bar protein bar is also pretty good.

We should have a protein bar thread like the protein shake thread :)

yep protein bars should def be in the FAQs where we will probably link to the relevant thread. Didn't you used to have a great recipe for protein bars JP?

I am not aware of such a shake but please let us know if/when you find one! Until then, there are single serving soy milks available & I personally have just mixed up Vega with water when I wanted a shake on the go.

Just take some scoops of protein powder and water with you. That's what I do at least. Soy, rice protein + pea protein, hemp+rice, ...

This is what I do. I put protein power (or vega or whatever) in a blender bottle and take that with me. Sometimes I bring soy milk to add to it or I'd just use water and shake it up. It's also handy to make up little ziploc bags of protein powder to carry around if you're going to need to make multiple shakes.

Some of the pre made Odwalla "super protein" drinks are vegan and have 20g of protein or so per bottle.

The PureFit bars are much more expensive than the Builders Bars (about $2.30 vs $1.50) so I only buy them if they're the only option.

Someone on the VBB forum recommended Svelte drinks. They will do the job (260 cals, 16g protein), but they are quite pricey. I suppose it's just too small of a market haha.

Maybe I can get enough diversity mixing it up with different bars. Thanks everyone!
