Homemade Lip Balm

Postby jamesndawson » Mon Mar 13, 2017 12:12 am

I've been having the sensation of chapped lips for the past week or so. No visible lesions or anything, just the usual feeling of burning, soreness. I have been using an OTC lip balm with lysine in it, but it doesn't seem very effective, and I don't like the taste, it's too chemical. It's called Herpecin l HL30. It may not even be cruelty-free.
I have some lysine powder I was going to take as a supplement but which now I don't believe I need. If I were to mix a little of this with some oil, maybe coconut, maybe about 1/2 tsp each, would that be safe? Would it work? Can it be stored at room temperature?
I know there are recipes on the Net for vegan lip balm, but they're all a bit more complicated than I want to do.

Did you ever figure this out? I really have no idea myself.

My only lip problems are them becoming dry and then I take it as a sign of dehydration, so I simply try to drink more water. Seems to do the trick. :)
