MP Pea Protein not that bad now?

Postby P Bo » Mon Jul 16, 2012 3:05 pm

So I just had 2.5kg of MyProtein's Pea Protein delivered today. Last had some a couple of years ago.

Either they've put the wrong stuff in or it's improved a lot. It almost has a maca taste to it. I am mixing it with a hand blender with some toffee flavouring however. Anyone ever had the wrong powder put in the bag?

Not me, no. I did notice that the formula changed about a six months or so ago. It's a lot smoother.

Yeah, it super fine. Next step is to use it to make some things I can eat.

Yep it has drastically improved! Smell is no longer painfully offensive and even taste is bearable. I mix a scoop to a scoop of chocolate soy protein and it's fine!

What sort of tips do you guys have for making protein taste better?
ie naturally, not through fructose or anything like that which is what some of the brand names do.

I think maybe loveliberate is referring to your signature, it looks like a website to a spam website or is it your own personal site?

Yeah I had a look at it and got into a loop trying to find the organic protein powder, seems a very confusing website.

To answer your question before we went off on the spam tangent.
Fructose sounds pretty natural to me. You could also try mix it with red grape juice and soya milk, is strangely drinkable.
Be warned that the grape juice will contain natural fructose.

Thanks for making that amendment, we are quite wary of spam here. Apologies if it came across negatively.

To answer your question, it depends on the protein. Some will taste bad no matter what you do! But usually I will add a flavouring type powder/liquid that you can get from supplement stores. It's probably the worst kind of additive but it's usually very potent so only a small amount is used.

Otherwise you could try things like fruit, chocolate powder of coffee.
